11 'life hacks' to make life easier

Life throws many things at us, and sometimes some of the smallest of inconveniences are the most annoying. For that very reason, we bring you 11 'life hacks' to make life easier - dedicated to simplifying daily life!

1. Shower head cleaning

1. Shower head cleaning

So you've scrubbed it over a hundred times and it still looks grimy and gross? Put those toothbrushes down, everybody! Simply fill a plastic bag (the ones you get when you 'dapao' soup) with vinegar, the regular kind you use for cooking will do, tie it around your shower head. Leave it over night and have the grime come right off!
2. Filling a container

2. Filling a container

Everyone has tried to fill a bucket too large for the sink at least once in their lives. It gets stuck between the tap and sink, water is spilling out thanks to the angle it's in then you practically wet the whole floor. Those days are over, ladies and gentlemen - simply use a clean dustpan to smoothly get water from the tap to the bucket!
3. Adding keys to key rings

3. Adding keys to key rings

Nobody likes to ruin a freshly painted, red, manicure. Especially not for something as small adding another key to a keychain. Follow this 'life hack' and keep your perfect nails - use a staple remover to wedge open your key ring while you slot in your new keys with ease.
4. Paint all over the can

4. Paint all over the can

Wish you could stop paint from dripping all over the sides of the can? Stretch a rubber band over the can so that it pulls across the opening, wipe your brush on the band instead of the sides of the can. Why didn't someone think of this earlier?! Don't worry we're feeling a pretty dumbfounded as well.
5. Kids falling out of bed

5. Kids falling out of bed

Somewhere along the way we all learn to keep still in bed, kids on the other hand are still developing that skill and in the mean time it could mean rolling off the edge a couple of times. Stop night time tumbles by tucking a pool noodle under a fitted sheet - this creates a barrier that is a little difficult to roll over!
6. Safe storing cleaning products

6. Safe storing cleaning products

Baby-proofing your house opens your eyes to things you would never have dreamt to be dangerous or pose any threat whatsoever. You find yourself stocking everything in the highest of shelves and cupboards, away from kiddo's reach. This may keep them safe but makes it such a chore for when you need something. Use a hanging shoe rack to store your cleaning products instead!
7. Dropped a earring

7. Dropped a earring

Small objects like earrings (or worse, the backs of earrings) are the most difficult things to locate once you've dropped them. Not only are there a million nooks and crannies it may have gotten lodged in, but then you have patterns on your floors and it is just impossible to tell pattern from small object. Wrap an old pair of pantyhose around the nozzle of your vacuum and you'll locate every earring you've ever dropped, in no time!
8. Clear headlights

8. Clear headlights

We all love the look of a new car. Why? Well, everything is just so perfect and shiny. Over time, this sheen fades and as with all things, your car doesn't look so new anymore. Keep the fresh-out-of-the-box look by using toothpaste to clean car headlights. Avoid toothpastes with cooling crystals and such - it could scratch the surface!
9. Covering up scuffs

9. Covering up scuffs

Just like your car headlights, wooden furniture loses its sheen that we strive to preserve over time. The solution to perfect looking furniture lies somewhere in your kitchen - walnuts! Use a walnut to cover up scuffs and dings on wooden furniture - rub the walnut against any rasps and watch them even out! We assure you it's cheaper than buying new chairs altogether.
10. Untying stubborn knots

10. Untying stubborn knots

Knots are tricky, as they're supposed to be, but when you need to retrieve something you really don't want to spend minutes trying to untie one. Instead twist the loose end so it stiffens, then push it backward into itself - tada! You are now not knotted!
11. Hold wrapping paper together

11. Hold wrapping paper together

Christmas is coming up and we bet you're busy buying and wrapping gifts for family and friends - now what is one to do with all this extra paper. Rubber bands? Taping more paper around it? Sounds a little troublesome, no? Why not save your toilet paper rolls, cut a vertical line down your roll and use it as a cuff for your excess wrapping paper - two birds with one stone!
