Chinese learning with Lulele

Lulele is offering some fun, interesting Chinese learning programmes which are put together by a strong team and like-minded partners : Media veterans, educators (from MOE) and a Principal Master Teacher in Chinese Language (MOE).

Programme : Interactive Chinese Storytelling 夏日读乐乐(儿童/亲子班)

For Children 7 – 9 Years Old

 Is your child not doing well in Chinese Oral? Students find it difficult often because they are weak in inference, or have not been trained how to think beyond surface level.

During this lesson, they use Picture Books (绘本) to captivate the children’s interest, while they learn the language and develop thinking skills (through guidance by teachers). Children can observe and pick up expressions and visual symbols, unleash their creativity, think of possible plot twists, while learning proper Chinese language articulation and usage.

There are two types of classes to choose from: Children Only and Parent & Child Session (focus on bonding and learning together).

This programme is presented by Lulele.SG (鹿乐乐学苑) and Grassroots Book Room (草根书室), an established local Chinese Book Store.

Note: The parent-child class involves having one parent to join their child in learning. This course curriculum is specially designed by Dr Ng Tai Cheen. Dr Ng is a Principal Master Teacher in Chinese Language, with over 40 years of teaching and training experience with Ministry of Education, having conducted courses for primary school teachers. Each session covers different themes, will teach the parent and child how to effectively use these materials to learn. 

Programme : AMAZING Camp (1-day Chinese Immersion) “没想到"假期营

For Children 7 – 12 Years Old

This 1-day camp will be an immersive experience, covering stories, games and hands-on activities that focuses on promoting interaction and allowing children to hone their language skills. During the process, children are exposed to 21st century competencies: critical thinking, cultural and language awareness, and creativity.

There are four main themes to select from: Financial Literacy, Family & Culture, Chinese Names & their meanings, Democracy & Responsibility. The takeaways are : 

  • Confidence in using Chinese Language (through 9-hours of exposure listening and using Chinese),

Hi-5 Children’s Workshop

Calling all parents with children aged 4 – 6 years old! 

Drawing on the principles of movement and music from Hi-5 television series, this first ever Hi-5 Performing Arts Workshop is happening on Sunday, 3 June 2018. 

Using creative drama, children will become characters to play out situations. Through Orff-based techniques, through movement, rhythm, rhyme, voice and body percussion, they will create sound scapes. Using descriptive words children will learn to explore and express animal movement.

The upcoming ACT 3 Drama Academy June Holiday Workshops will be set against the exciting stories of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book filled with important life lessons and moral values.

Kids from as young as 7 months to children of 10 years old will be treated to Mowgli’s wild adventures in the jungle while he is raised by animals!

One-session and five-day workshops are available and promise to be fun, engaging and nurturing. Storytelling is intertwined with drama activities and exercises in a warm and inviting environment as children are encouraged to develop creativity, language and speaking skills, as well as confidence and empathy.

In addition, there will be a presentation to families after the workshops for children 3 years old and above.

Tinker Labs June Holiday Programme

This year, Tinker Labs will be rolling their first June Holiday’s programme. With a variety of activities from taiko drumming to clay modeling, their holiday activities will be open to both persons with and without disabilities.

Programme Outline

1. The fundamentals of flying – Aviate, Navigate, Communicate
2. Understand and comprehend the different roles in the aviation industry needed to make flight operations safe and successful
3. Fly controlled manoeuvres with instruction given in the Cessna 172 flight simulator

Curriculum

1. Introduction to Aeronautics (6 hours) – Understand the principles of flight, the parts of an airplane, flight instrumentation
2. Meteorology (2 hours) – Understand how weather and wind conditions affect flight
3. Basic Flight Operations (3 hours) – Learn more about the airport environment, what pilots need to take note of when taking off and landing on a runway
4. Radio telephony (2 hours) – Learn basic aviation language that pilots use all over the world for communication
5. Aptitude Flying (5 hours) – Practice flight knowledge in the Cessna 172 flight simulator
