Johnny Depp allegedly abused soon-to-be ex-wife Amber Heard

Johnny Depp allegedly abused soon-to-be ex-wife Amber Heard

The court granted a temporary restraining order after Amber Heard claimed she is a victim of repeated domestic violence. More on the developing story here

Less than a week since she filed for divorce from her husband Johnny Depp, the 30-year-old actress is now claiming to be a victim of domestic abuse throughout the course of their 15-month marriage.

Heard presented a signed affidavit wherein she alleges that Depp was both physically and verbally abusive “during the entirety of [their] relationship”.

Her claims also included a recent violent attack, saying that Depp threw his iPhone at her, hitting her in the eye during an argument at their Los Angeles home.

She was seen leaving court with bruise under her eye but the LAPD officers claimed they found no evidence of abuse when they responded to an emergency call the night the alleged abuse took place.

On Thursday, Depp’s representative released a statement to Us Weekly regarding his split from Heard, expressing that he did not want to drag out the divorce:

“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life,” the actor’s representative wrote. “Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

“Domestic abuse claims may have been to gain an upper hand…”

His attorney claims that the true reason behind Heard simply wants to “gain an upper hand in the divorce”. Adding that “Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse”.

It was previously reported that she was seeking spousal support, a request which Depp and his lawyers plan to fight against.

Depp’s net worth worth is about $450 million, estimates PEOPLE.

A Los Angeles Judge granted Heard’s request for a temporary restraining order after she presented photos of herself with bruises she claims to have suffered at the hands of the 52-year-old actor.

But all of her other requests are still pending until a formal hearing takes place.

These requests mainly include: $50,000 a month in spousal support from Depp, sole access to their L.A. mansion and Range Rover, and protection for her dog. She also wants Depp to undergo 52 weeks of anger management therapy.

Depp’s lawyer claims that Heard is taking advantage of him at a highly emotional time in his life; his mother just died a few days before Heard filed for divorce.

Depp’s lawyer adds in the statement that “Amber is a successful model and actress who earns her own income and is capable of supporting herself.”
