Jessica Alba admits that she has experienced 'mum guilt'

The actress confessed that she has felt guilty when her work takes up much of her time, something many working mums can relate to

Mums can learn a thing or two from actress and mumpreneur Jessica Alba about juggling work and family.

While the 34-year-old mum-of-two runs her own billion-dollar business, The Honest Company, she’s raising two lovely daughters Honor, 7, and Haven, 4, with husband Cash Warren.

But balancing it all isn’t always a breeze.

In a recent interview with Parents Latina magazine, she confessed to sometimes feeling “mum guilt” whenever her thriving business takes up most of her time and energy.

This is something many mums can relate to. Her advice? “Don’t be hard on yourself. Doing your best to be present wherever you are is what’s important.”

Whenever she feels this stressed out, she knows it’s time to pamper herself.

“Make time to eat healthy and stay active,” Jessica shared. “It’s worth it to recharge once a week: Get sleep, have a date night or girls’ night in, and drink some wine!”

As for mums who dream of making the foray into business? She says, “Don’t get overwhelmed trying to do everything at once. Lay out what you can get done now and what will take longer.”

Her Latino heritage was a big part of how she values family as well as being a strong, independent woman.

Although she thinks that may not easily identify with being Latino. Unlike her, who grew up with her Mexican-American grandparents, they don’t really know how to speak Spanish.

“They know how to ask for besos and leche!” says Jessica. “They are going to be global citizens and will need to understand many languages, including Spanish, to make a difference in the world.”
