It's okay to send your kids to nurseries

Feel guilty about leaving your precious one at a nursery but really need to do your work? No reason to worry, an expert says.

According to Kathy Sylva, professor of educational psychology at Oxford University, parents who are unable to spend the time during the day to take care of their toddler should not be too troubled, as it does not do any damage to the child.

“The vast majority of children are not impaired on any measure by attending nursery under the age of two,” Sylva was quoted as saying. “And…there are many things parents can do to make sure that their child is part of that majority.”

These include checking up on the reputation of the school, having a good relationship with the staff, turning up for surprise checks, and maintaining healthy communications with your child.

Nevertheless, it is important to spend as much time with your child in his or her growing years as possible. Just don’t feel so guilty everytime you drop off your little one at the nursery before you leave for work.
