It's More Than Cool To Skate!

3 min read
It's More Than Cool To Skate!

Mums and dads, do you feel that smartphones and devices have taken over your child’s life? Wish you could motivate your kids to lead a more active lifestyle? Why not try an inspiring sport like inline skating?

Skating is a Form of Exercise That can Happen Anytime, Anywhere

Did you know that too much screen time and a sedentary lifestyle can contribute to low self-esteem and depression in children? Our little ones need to move and play to grow up to be their best selves.

Studies show that regular exercise helps boost cognitive function and overall mental health and well-being, and helps children to focus better at school.

Interestingly, a 2010 study comparing test scores of 9- and 10-year-old kids who exercised regularly with those who didn’t showed that the more active kids scored better on every single test. Studies also show that active, healthy kids have a better-developed hippocampus — the part of the brain responsible for long-term memory.

Skating is a great way of being physically fit while having fun. In addition to toning and strengthening muscles, it is a fantastic aerobic activity. It helps to nurture an active lifestyle and improve cardiovascular health.

Skating can also improve your child’s gross motor skills and teaches concentration, coordination, and balance.

Skating is Much More Than Just a Physical Activity

The benefits of inline skating extend way beyond physical and mental fitness. Skating gives children a sense of accomplishment and helps them build confidence and self-esteem.

More importantly, it aids in character building. Our little ones learn that when you fall, you have to pick yourself back up and keep on going because the body achieves what the mind believes.

Skating teaches you to be patient with yourself and push through your comfort zone. It gives you a better understanding of how your body works.

Apart from building resilience, skating is also one of those sports which suits all personality types, as you can enjoy it alone as well as with others.

Great Fun for the Whole Family!

Mums and dads, it’s important for our kids to learn from school. But as parents, it’s also important that we help them de-stress and provide creative outlets to express themselves and release all their pent-up energy.

A big advantage that skating offers is that skates are easily transportable and can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Once kids pick up the basics of skating, they can also explore other fun and challenging possibilities like inline skate dancing, speed skating, sliding, and slalom.
