Is your husband "pornsexual"?

Is your husband "pornsexual"?

What exactly does 'pornsexual' mean, and could your husband be one? Read on to find out!

For some couples, watching porn is normal behavior, some even watch porn to help get them “in the mood” so to speak. However, does porn become an actual problem?

What exactly does being a “pornsexual” mean?

Pornsexual is a relatively new term. It refers to people who tend to love watching porn more than having sex in real life. According to sex addiction therapist Christene Lozano, it is a type of learned behavior, and happens when people watch pornographic material repeatedly, and thus it desensitizes the brain and the body.

Basically, being pornsexual means finding more pleasure when it comes to watching porn, as compared to having sex with an actual person. And this type of behavior can become problematic, as it can cause problems with intimacy, and in turn can cause problems in a marriage.

Certified sex therapist Amanda Pasciucco adds, “Pornsexuals experience all of their sexual pleasure in isolation instead of shared.” She added that it can also be a sign of a fear of intimacy since they can get sexual pleasure online, without the effort of intimacy.

How can you tell if your husband is pornsexual?

There are some signs that you need to watch out for to know if your husband is pornsexual or not. First would be if your husband tends to spend a lot of time alone on the computer. Second would be a sharp decline in your sex life. Another sign would be if your husband always insists on watching porn while you’re having sex. That can probably mean that he gets more pleasure from watching pornography rather than through sexual intercourse.

Of course, there are a lot of factors that come into play if your husband suddenly loses interest in sex, so don’t always jump to conclusions. However, if you’re really sure that your husband might have an addiction to porn, then you most definitely need to do something about it as it can cause a lot of problems in your marriage. You might not notice it now, but you’ll definitely see your husband slowly drifting away after a while.

What can you do about it?

According to psychotherapist Dr. Fran Walfish, being pornsexual can arise from a breakdown of communication in the relationship. This means that a problem in the relationship might have been the cause of your husband being a pornsexual.

However, this isn’t the only possible cause, since watching porn can become an addicting behavior, it also might be the case that due to the fact that your husband watches too much porn, it’s much more convenient and easier for him to ‘get off’ by just watching porn.

So if you find out that your husband is pornsexual, the first thing you need to do would be to address the problem. Talk it out and see what you can do as a couple in order to make thing easier for you. If you feel that you need outside intervention, there’s nothing wrong with seeing a therapist or a marriage counselor in order to help you with your problems.

At the end of the day, it’s important to always talk it out with your husband, and keep the lines of communication open.
