An eight-year-old kid named Misha Woodruff in Singapore received a once-in-a-lifetime response through a card signed by King Charles from Buckingham Palace, reported by The Straits Times on Friday, April 28.

Last year when Queen Elizabeth II died, Misha wrote to Britain’s new monarch King Charles III to send her condolences.

After seven months, Misha was surprised to receive a signed card from King Charles III, thanking her for her kind words.

“I felt really excited when I saw the letter was from Buckingham Palace, and wondered what was inside!”, Misha told The Straits Times.

Misha’s father, a British national Nick Woodruff, 44, who works as a chief of staff at Trust Bank, shared that his daughter was over the moon when she got the card on Wednesday of that week.

Woodruff added that her child’s eyes opened wide with amazement when she saw the cypher of King Charles. Misha also read it out loud and was running around their house with joy.

“This experience has really inspired her to be bold and try things she might have once thought were impossible.”, said Misha’s father.

About Misha’s letter

This eight-year-old girl, who is British but was born and raised in Singapore, wrote a letter sharing her hope that King Charles III would be a great monarch.

She also sent him a wish that he will be loved by many people around the world and hoped that he would visit her at Tanglin Trust School in Singapore in the future.

Her father told The Straits Times that Misha came up with what to write by herself, and his wife, who is Malaysian, only guided her on how to structure the letter.

King Charles’ response

In the card that King Charles, who will be crowned in London on May 6, sent to Misha, he wrote: “It was so very kind of you to send me such a wonderfully generous message following the death of my beloved mother.”

“Your most thoughtful words are enormously comforting, and I cannot tell you how deeply they are appreciated at this time of immense sorrow.”
