Get rid of pregnancy cellulite

When I learnt I was going to have a baby, I was almost over the moon with happiness. It was such a great feeling.

The first few weeks were fine and then it all started to dawn on me. I was having cravings all the times. I struggled with morning sickness and nausea and my bra size started to change.

“I’m no Fann Wong”

I could handle all of that, because in the back of my mind I was prepared to see my body changing and I knew that I would be back to my original self in no time.

What really surprised me and pushed me over my threshold though, was the cellulite sticking out of my butt. Well, I’m no Fann Wong, but I do want to look good too. I was young and having my first baby. I didn’t want to sport cottage cheese thighs for the rest of my life.

That sure was a nightmare scary enough to get me on my feet instantly. I didn’t want to ruin my body and I was sure that my baby would never do that to me. I wondered a lot about how to get rid of cellulite on my thighs and butt. I needed a plan that would help me lose the cellulite and then keep it at bay. So I did what any intelligent woman would do. I took charge!

My first stop

My first stop was the Gleneagles hospital where I met my gynecologist and spoke to her about my fears. She told me that I had nothing to worry about. If I exercised regularly and took special care of my diet, I had no reason to be concerned about cellulite. By the time I stepped out of her office, I was a happy woman again.

Cellulite and stretch marks are caused by sudden gain or loss of weight for which our body is not prepared. But if we prepare our body by exercising regularly, and eat a well balanced diet, the skin’s collagen remains healthy and you do not have to worry about cellulite.

Women who already have excess weight, are more likely to develop cellulite. Luckily that wasn’t the problem with me. All I had to do was to take my supplements on time and make sure that I only had foods which were good for my health and my baby’s health.

What’s associated with pregnancy cellulite

Water retention and hormonal changes are also often associated with cellulite. While you can’t do much about your hormonal changes, water retention is something that can be tackled. The first recommendation to prevent water retention is to avoid long periods of rest. This does not mean that you should wear yourself out. It simply means that you should consider short periods of rest.

If you have rested for about an hour, then get up and take a walk around your block and come back to rest again. Also, avoid using a lot of salt in your food. Sodium can increase water retention.

No rigorous exercise

After I had my baby, there was a little bit of cellulite on my thighs. I decided to continue my routine even after the birth of my baby. I didn’t go for rigorous exercise, but I took simple measures like taking the stairs whenever I could and parking a block away from work.

I took my beautiful little daughter out for a walk in the park everyday. I also made a quick trip to the mall and got myself an anti-cellulite cream. There are many available in the market and all you have to do is to pick up a popular one.

If you are a little careful when you are pregnant, you won’t have to say goodbye to your lovely skin. Motherhood is just one part of your life so don’t let it get the better of you!
