Minimum Eligible Age For COVID-19 Home Recovery Programme Lowered From 5 To 3 Years

Children aged three years and older will be allowed to recover from home starting from Wednesday.

The minimum eligible age for the COVID-19 home recovery programme has been lowered– from five to three years. This will take effect starting from Wednesday (10 November).

This was announced by the multi-ministry task force tackling COVID-19 on Monday (8 November) along with their plans to ease safe management measures in Singapore.

According to the multi-ministry task force during the virtual conference, all children aged three years and above will be allowed to stay at home. This is if their homes have a suitable environment for recovery.

These children will also undergo a telemedicine assessment by either a community or hospital paediatrician.

In an official statement by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Monday, infants and children three months to under three years of age will be allowed to recover at home. This is after they have been clinically assessed at hospitals and are suitable for the home recovery programme.

Meanwhile, all babies under three months old who are infected with COVID-19 will continue to be admitted to the hospital.

Home recovery allows better prioritisation of resources to patients who are severely ill or vulnerable. This is without compromising care to those who may younger with milder to no symptoms.

As per MOH, those who receive positive results for COVID-19 from HealthHub will receive an SMS informing them that they are on the home recovery programme.

The Health Ministry gives individuals the following reminders for when they get infected:

  • Immediately self-isolate from other household members in a separate room
  • Avoid interactive with anyone
  • Do not leave your house
  • Stay calm and monitor your health.
