The December school holidays are coming right up, and here comes the important question that everyone asks – Are you going on a family holiday? If you’re about to answer this with a restless and dull tone, please don’t! You don’t have to go on an overseas vacation just to bond and have fun with the kids.
Here are some ‘getaways’ you and your family can look forward to this December without your passports! We have something for every type of family; from the kampung lovers to the families that love arts and crafts. We promise they are exciting, really!
1. For the adventurous
Does swinging from tree to tree sound fun to you? Then here is the perfect activity for you to channel your inner Tarzan! Don’t worry, we’ve got your kids covered too.
Located at Bedok Reservoir Park, Forest Adventure is an obstacle course built through trees with swings, ladders, nets, and of course everyone’s favourite zip lines! Your kids will also get a chance to be little Tarzans and Janes as the course comes with three difficulty levels – Grand Course, Mini Course, and Kids Course (specially designed for children aged 5 to 10). Be prepared to have them shriek in excitement as they zip across the Bedok Reservoir!

On a side note, it’s also the perfect opportunity for you to take the backseat and follow your kids around as they take on the role as a guide through the treetop obstacle course!
2. For the kampung lovers
*Update 12/2020: All group tours and activities are suspended until further notice due to COVID-19.
Go off the beaten track and enjoy an educational experience at the Kranji Countryside! Now, you might be thinking of the famous goat farm, but we are going to talk about another farm today – Bollywood Veggies. They offer a great deal of activities with plenty of chances to bond as a family; from scarecrow building to rice planting!
You can even get your tummies filled at Bollywood Veggies’ very own Poison Ivy Bistro in between your activities. We heard that their Warrior Chicken Curry is a must-order! (Don’t say never share.)
If your kids love the farm experience, you may consider heading over to the other farms nearby! For mummies and daddies that don’t drive, you’ll be stoked to find out that there are shuttle buses! Take the Kranji Countryside Express Bus from Kranji MRT Station, which runs daily and costs $3/head/round trip. Apart from Bollywood Veggies, the shuttle bus will also take you to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, Nyee Phoe (Gardenasia), D’Kranji Farm Resort, Hay Dairies Goat Farm and Jurong Frog Farm! Rest assured that you and your family will have a fun-filled day.
3. For the arts & crafts lovers
Having kids can only mean one thing – a messy house. Especially with the school holidays? I can already see you parents shaking your heads.
Here’s what you need to do: pull them out and take them to Impressions Art Studio, where you can be prepared for some nice family entertainment sans the mess.
Tucked away on a quiet street in Dempsey, you can find the spacious walk-in art studio frequented by adults and children alike. Simply pop by anytime for their D.I.Y activities. You and your kids will have so much fun painting your own potteries, canvases, batiks and glass fusings; take your pick!
Whoever said you need to be overseas for some family fun?
4. For the sporty fellows
Isn’t it frustrating when your kids try to climb everything in sight? Tables, chairs, wardrobes, anything and everything! And you know what they say, if you can’t beat them, join them.

Brave the heights at Climb Central, Singapore’s tallest indoor-sport climbing venue! Located conveniently in Kallang Wave Mall, the various walls are suitable for both adults and children with no prior experience needed. This will tire them out so much they won’t even bother climbing your furniture when they get home!
