Student dies after being hit by lorry in Singapore
The incident happened on 26 November 2018, along West Coast Road towards Penjuru Road, at about 2:30 pm.
According to Lianhe Wanbao, 17-year-old ITE College West student, Lynette Chan, was going to her alma mater Tanglin Secondary School to get her student testimonial document.
Her father, Mr Alvin Chan, thinks that she overslept on the bus and ended up missing her stop. She then got down the bus, intending to take another bus in the opposite direction.
That is when the tragedy occurred.
The girl ended up being flung for more than 50 m after being hit by a lorry. She was unconscious when rushed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead after 3 pm.
Apparently, the autopsy showed that the girl had suffered traumatic cardiac arrest, which is a condition in which the heart had ceased to beat due to blunt or penetrating trauma.
Sadly, her father (who is a single parent) and other family members weren’t able to see her one last time, as they could make it to the hospital only after 4 pm.
Lynette was the eldest child in the family. She had two brothers aged 13 and 14, and a sister aged 16.
Police are investigating the accident.
We at theAsianparent offer our heartfelt condolences to Lynette’s family.
