A Journey of a Rubber Tapper

Jaliusih Madakol, a hardworking rubber tapper, hails from a humble village nestled in the small town of Tamparuli. With limited financial resources, he and his wife, Malian Bangkulat, 53, scraped together every penny they could find to support their daughter, Arnie.

When Arnie was recognized by the state education department as one of the 75 outstanding students, Jaliusih knew he had to be by her side as she received this well-deserved honour.

Borrowing for a Special Road Trip

To ensure his presence at his daughter’s milestone event, Jaliusih found himself in a predicament. He lacked the necessary funds to cover the 45-kilometre journey to the ceremony venue.

However, determined not to let financial constraints hinder his daughter’s moment of triumph, Jaliusih mustered up the courage to seek assistance from his neighbours.

Through their kindness and generosity, he managed to borrow RM120 (S$35) to cover the taxi fare.

Celebrating a Remarkable Achievement

The reason behind Jaliusih’s unwavering dedication became clear as Arnie’s remarkable achievement was revealed. Consequently, Arnie, an exceptional student, had achieved a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average in her Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) examination.

Basically, this remarkable accomplishment is equivalent to scoring straight As in Singapore’s A-level examinations. Moreover, this achievement showcases Arnie’s commitment to academic excellence and underscores her dedication to pursuing knowledge and achieving her full potential.

Her success has not only brought pride to her family but has also inspired many others within their community.

Struggles of a Rubber Tapper

Jaliusih’s daily life as a rubber tapper is far from easy. Earning between RM200 (S$58) and RM300 (S$88) a month, he faces significant financial challenges.

Although he owns a motorcycle and a 30-year-old Proton Saga car, these modes of transportation often break down, further complicating his ability to support his family.

Despite these hardships, Jaliusih’s unwavering spirit and determination shine through, demonstrating the extraordinary lengths he is willing to go to for the happiness and success of his loved ones.

A Touching Tale of Sacrifice

Jaliusih Madakol’s story serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by individuals in pursuit of their children’s dreams.

Moreover, through his commitment to attending his daughter’s education ceremony, Jaliusih has touched the hearts of people far and wide. As a result, he has inspired others to cherish and support the aspirations of their own loved ones.

Furthermore, his remarkable journey exemplifies the power of parental love and the profound impact it can have on the lives of children. By leaving an indelible mark on society as a whole, Jaliusih has shown that the bonds of family can shape the course of individuals’ lives and contribute to the betterment of the community.
