Yummy, healthy and super easy lunch box ideas for your kid!

Are you at a loss when it comes to what to pack in your kid's lunch box? We suggest a few simple but healthy ideas for you to consider. These ideas are quick as well. We are sure it will suit your busy lifestyle. Read on!

A simple sandwich

A simple sandwich

The sandwich is the most versatile lunch box option of all! Kids just love them, and there are so many to choose from. You can recreate your kid’s deli favourite at home and yours will be healthier! Some options are - chicken and cream cheese, egg salad, tuna salad, cheese and tomato, and for a sweet option peanut butter and jam. Avoid a soggy sandwich by packing it in a zip lock bag.
Toasties

This savory treat is a yummy twist on the traditional sandwich! It is as simple to make as a sandwich. Then just let the machine do its work! Try nutrient packed fillings like scrambled egg, chicken and cheese, or cheese slices. You could also try pizza sauce and cheese for a pizza-ish toasty!

Yet another jazzed up sandwich! You can get creative with the fillings. Try chicken and avocado or peppers. A handy tip is to cut the ingredients into strips so they don’t fall out while eating.

Fruits are packed with calcium, fiber, folate, and loads of vitamins! So needless to say, fruits are a super lunch box treat. Jazz up a boring fruit salad by adding a few raisins for sweetness and some granola for crunch. Add these to your cubed fruits, drizzle a teaspoon of honey, and you've got a yummy desert-snack!

‘Seriously??’ you may think. Yes!! We are not talking about plain old boiled veg. Try this interesting idea. Cut a stick of celery into two inch pieces, fill it up with cream cheese or peanut butter, dot a few raisins in it and ta-da you've got a scrumptious little snack!

This is a good option If you are running late and don’t have much time to make something from scratch. Pack a lunch box with a tub of yogurt, some fruit, a few cookies and a small pack of raisins and you’ve got a complete snack! Take a minute to carefully select what you put in though to ensure it’s a balanced snack.
The after school snack – stir fried noodles

The after school snack – stir fried noodles

It is easy and quick to prepare this wholesome little dish at home. Stir fry veggies, an egg, some shredded meat and mix into your boiled noodles. Unlike fast food, you control what goes into it. If your little one has to stay after school for sports, this is a very good option. Try brown rice noodles for a healthier option. You can even substitute rice for noodles and make fried rice. Yum!
