Go Green SG with Motherswork

Go Green SG with Motherswork

Did you know that this year, GO GREEN SINGAPORE (Go Green SG) month is from the 12th of June to the 14th of July 2024?

Go Green SG is a national sustainability movement to rally the community to take collective action for a cleaner and greener Singapore.

Besides the many activities that the government has organised for Singaporeans to take part in. You can start at home, and make more sustainable choices, even in parenting.

Here at Motherswork, we take pride in curating products that are sustainable and good for the environment, in the hope that we can protect the earth to the best of our abilities, and leave a legacy of a cleaner and greener earth for our future generations to enjoy.

Want to take the step to more sustainable choices in parenting, here are some choices we have in store:

Green Toys

We are big fans of the brand as they are made from recycled milk jugs. With only recycled plastic parts, the products are great for both indoor and outdoor play, suitable for bath time, and are even food grade and dishwasher safe! With lots of options to choose from, ranging from trains and rockets to cupcakes and tea sets, your young ones will never tire of these well made, and long lasting toys.

Lollibly Playmats

Looking for playmats for tummy time? Or something that is stylish and functional at the same time to cushion babies’ falls as they are learning to walk? The Lollibly playmats are the way to go. Not only are they eco-friendly, but they are biodegradable to boot. Supposedly if the mats are shredded up and buried, they can biodegrade naturally within five to 10 years! How’s that for going green.

Bravado Bras

Another brand we are proud of in store, are the Bravado line of sustainable nursing and pumping bras. All of the classic styles that are carried in store are made from sustainably sourced fabrics, for moms and Mother Earth too. Starring Bravado Designs Eco-Soft™ fabric, that combines natural fibers, organic cotton and TENCEL™ Modal – you get all day long softness and comfort.

Tip Toey Joey

You would never have thought it, but the Verde Eco range from this brand of shoes are made from eco-friendly, recycled canvas! Featuring and extra soft cotton knit lining, with a natural & recycled rubber sole – your kids can run around with these vegan friendly options. They are a super popular shoe that helps your child’s foot develop properly even as they grow, and are touted to be one of the best first walker shoes for little feet.

Strollers

Did you know you could make more eco-conscious decisions in your stroller choices as well?

The Joolz Aer+ is a very popular travel stroller where all fabrics used in the pram are made of recycled PET. Super light at 6kg, with a one-hand open and close, it is no wonder it is always sold out!

Also, one of the most popular stroller brands in Motherswork, Bugaboo, is actually B corp certified – which means not only are they launching circular services, they are also using sustainable materials and are pushing for net zero carbon emission by 2035. As of 2023, Bugaboo has already been making all its strollers with mass-balanced bio-based (plant made) material, using eco-friendly fabric coatings, and vegetarian leather, without compromising quality or durability. Shop All Bugaboo!

Skip Hop Changing Station – Eco Range

Make diaper changes convenient and comfortable with the eco- changing stations from Skip Hop. What do we love about it? Besides being sleek and practical, with pockets to keep wet wipes, diaper creams, and everything else needed for messy clean ups – we are in awe knowing that each of these changing stations is made from exactly four recycled PET bottles! Pack it in your bag or strap it onto your stroller, this is definitely a must-have for outings or your next trip overseas.

Swimwear

Saeson stars swimwear that uses sustainable raw materials made from recycled polyester. The Ellwood collection is made from this innovative solution that greatly reduces the use of plastic, and with good flexibility and a soft, comfortable touch, it is also a fabric that protects your children from the sun. A great choice of swimwear for your next trip to the beach or pool.

Wet wipes

One of the many gripes of parents who want to go green, is that we rely on wet wipes so much. From cleaning messes to diaper changes, it is hard to escape using one-use wet wipes. But, Pigeon has a solution. Their Natural Botanical Baby Plantmade Gentle Wipes are made with naturally soft and sustainable bamboo eco-fibers. Using only 100% purified water, these wipes are biodegradable, making it an eco-friendly option that will make you feel less guilty about needing to use more.

Bamboo-based brands

There are several great Bamboo-based brands available in Motherswork. Why Bamboo? Bamboo has been touted as a sustainable fabric as it is renewable and a versatile crop. It grows rapidly, and some species can grow over a metre a day. It also requires little water and pesticides or fertilisers to grow. Plus, bamboo releases 35% more oxygen into the air compared to trees of the same size.

Little Rei prides itself on its luxuriously soft bamboo muslin swaddles, washcloths, blankets and hooded towels that are sustainable and kind to the earth, while being simple and stylish. Featuring cute prints with designs from illustrators like AwaywithMin and Kristen Kiong, these are one of the more popular gift brands in the store.

Raph and Remy are known for their premium baby onesies made from the softest bamboo jersey. Soft, silky, stretchable and breathable, these are antibacterial, antifungal, and are moisture wicking as well. Making them perfect options for both sleep and play.

Baa Baa Sheepz  – this cult brand is popular with both moms and babies alike. With most items made from 95% bamboo and 5% spandex, everything from this brand is not only cuddly and soft, but so cute! They also have everything from the viral sellout pillows, to the comfiest of pjs, and now have dresses and t-shirt and short sets too!

Baby Bottles

Last but not least, baby bottles. Some parents have a preference for glass bottles because they are a very recyclable material. And for those parents, here are the options we have available at Motherswork:
