A 4-year-old girl suffered severe injuries after she fell from a 4th floor Tampines flat in Singapore. She is now in hospital, and in need of financial help.
Little Girl falls from flat
According to The Straits Times, the incident happened at Block 836 Tampines Street 82, on April 6, 2018, after 9 pm.
SCDF have confirmed that they took a 4-year-old child to Changi General Hospital. The girl was later transferred to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Facebook user Bata Ni Susan recently shared pictures of the girl, whose name is apparently Sachi Santelices. The girl and her grandmother had arrived in Singapore on 1 April for vacation.
The girl’s mother Ms Jenica Santelices, works in Singapore as customer service officer in a restaurant.
Ms Santelices told The Straits Times, “The accident happened on April 6, at around 9.30 pm. My mother went to the market to buy food and left Sachi alone. The gate was closed and also the window.”
She also said that when her mother returned home 20 minutes later, she saw police officers at the foot of the block.
Financial help needed
“She went to our HDB flat and looked for Sachi but she’s not in the apartment and the window was open. My mother went down nervously and checked what’s happening and saw Sachi on the ground, together with the police and lots of people.”
According to Ms. Bata Ni Susan’s post, the child “miraculously survived the fall with no head trauma, although her spine, lungs and liver were impacted.”
Apparently, the little girl fractured her spine and shoulder, and suffered internal haemorrhage in her lungs and liver.
Ms Santelices told The Straits Times, “As of today, she’s fine, the internal bleeding stopped and we’re just waiting for the MRI this Friday to know if she needs an operation.”
“The only problem is we are in need of financial (help) to support her medical expenses.”
“It’s an accident. No one wants this to happen, not even my mother.”
A fund-raising page has been set up on YouCaring.com. Do help in whatever way you can.
We hope this little girl recovers soon.
