Garmin devices recalled due to hazardous batteries that could cause fires

GPS device manufacturer Garmin is recalling 1.25 million nüvi devices as their batteries could overheat and explode. The affected units contain batteries made by a third-party supplier, and almost 800,000 were sold in America. Only GPS units with model numbers 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT, where xx is a two-digit number, may be affected. You can determine your model number by looking at the label on the back or bottom of your nüvi.

Customers should visit . If they own recalled units, Garmin will replace the battery and insert a spacer on top of it for free. Please do not try to remove the batteries on their own.
