For a lot of people, the biggest challenge when it comes to losing weight is having the right mindset about it. However, did you know that there are actually some ‘health habits’ that can prevent you from losing weight?
1. Having an all-or-nothing mentality

Having a purely all-or-nothing mentality might work for a short period of time, but if you want to lose weight and keep it off, then you need to start thinking differently.
Having a rigid mentality when it comes to weight loss is not as good as there’s a lot of ways to go about with losing weight. Sticking to a single strict method only makes you feel more restricted and can even cause you to hate your weight loss regimen, causing you to stop doing it.
The key is to choose the type of diet and exercise plan that fits your lifestyle and your personality, not the other way around.
2. Doing exercises that you hate

Let’s face it, not all people love exercising. And here’s a surprise, you don’t actually have to torture yourself each day with exercise if you want to lose weight.
Doing exercises that you hate only serve to make you hate the entire weight-loss activity, making you lose focus and feel demotivated since exercise would start feeling more like a chore.
Instead, try and mix things up. Look for exercises that you actually enjoy, and don’t be limited by ‘traditional’ workouts. You can try dancing, biking, or most any other sport. Make things fun so that you’ll actually look forward to physical activity!
3. Basing your self-worth on other people’s opinions
This is something that a lot of people are guilty of. People who tend to base their self-worth on other people’s opinions often feel demotivated if they don’t lose weight quickly, or if their body doesn’t look as good as other people’s bodies.
Relying too much on other people’s opinions for your self-worth is a disaster waiting to happen. The important thing here is to just keep at it and know that any little bit of progress you make towards weight loss and being healthier is a step in the right direction.
4. You’re giving up too much just to lose weight

While it’s true that you need to sacrifice some things if you want to lose weight, you don’t have to sacrifice all of the things that you love just to lose weight.
The important thing about losing weight is not to deprive yourself. It’s well and good to stick to a diet, but don’t deprive yourself of the food and the activities that you love just so you can lose weight. The important thing here is to make sure that you can sustain the healthier lifestyle that you set for yourself.
