Are you giving too an overly harsh punishment?
You can assume that being a parent isn’t easy, there are so many fine lines that shouldn’t be crossed and nuances that are just itching to be clearly defined. But hey, that is a parent’s life. Nothing is black and white—it’s all shades of gray.
If you really look at parenting, actually a lot of instances just require common sense and not rocket-science-genius to handle. Let’s look into punishments, below are two cases in which murder was committed because the disciplinary action went overboard…

Wash the “naughty” away
Three-year-old, baby Bastien’s naked body was bundled and placed into the washing machine by his 33-year-old father, Christophe Champenois, at their home near Paris. The father had done so, shockingly not by mistake, but deliberately.
Christophe said that he wanted to punish his son for flushing his classmate’s drawings down the toilet while at playgroup. We’d say that this is the most ridiculous form of punishment. Where were his brains? Seriously.
Charlene, Bastian’s 25-year-old mom, took her son out from the brutal scene and rushed to their neighbour’s house, carrying her baby’s limp and lifeless body in her arms. To protect her hubby, she even said that he had fallen down the stairs.
Alice, the neighbour, said: “I took him in my arms like a broken doll. I felt the last beat of his heart. Charlene didn’t move. She was red all over. She didn’t understand he was dead.”
Both parents adhered to their made-up story about a tragic accident on the stairs. But the bubble was busted by their five-year-old daughter, Maud, who disclosed that her baby brother was locked inside the washing machine. And guess what? This isn’t the first time the washing machine was used as a punishment device. Well, there are other forms of punishments…sometimes the toddler was locked in the closet for around two hours.
Both the brainless-dimwits-of parents were charged of course. Daddy Christophe was charged with murder of a minor while mummy Charlene was charged with not preventing a crime and not assisting a person in danger. Yes, both do not deserve to have the gift of babies that are such an incredible blessing.

Punishment by dehydration
In Dallas, not too long ago, a 10-year-old boy perished due to dehydration. Not because he was stranded in the desert but because his dad and step mum deprived him of liquids. What could be the crime for resorting to such a deadly punishment? It was to teach him a lesson for wetting his bed, according to authorities.
Johnathan James died from water deprivation after five days with temperatures hitting 100 degrees or more each day. 42-year-old, dad Michael Ray James and stepmother Tina Alberson were charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury and have been jailed.
Johnathan’s twin brother, Joseph James disclosed that his parents placed Johnathan in a room without any air conditioning and told him to stand by the window. He had peanut butter stuck in his throat the day he died, his parents would not allow him to wash it down with water. Joseph said: “They still wouldn’t let him have water. I wanted to do something, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t do nothing because I would get in trouble.”

Moderation is key in any punishment
We really wonder what happened to the days of—“no desert”, or “you’re grounded for a week!” There is no denying that your kids need to know that wrong actions have consequences, but any nincompoop would know NOT to put their baby in the washing machine or starve their kid from essential liquids. Look out for the “life and safety” of your child when you are thinking of a form of punishment. Drastic and extreme measures might just cost you the life of your kid.
