Eating boogers and other gross things all kids do

26 May, 2016

Kids are notorious for doing gross things like picking their nose and eating it! But what are the other disgusting habits all children have?

Eating boogers and other gross things all kids do

Children are no angels and they can get up to the most cheekiest antics and do really gross things. So what exactly are the disgusting habits all kids have at some point in their childhood?
1. Pick their nose and eat the boogers

1. Pick their nose and eat the boogers

You spent one hour whipping up a nice meal for junior, only to have him flat out refuse to take even a single bite.

But his nose and the green, sticky "hidden treasure" inside it is apparently more appetising than your cooking.

Umm, bon appetit.

2. Lick tables, supermarket trolleys, and doorknobs

2. Lick tables, supermarket trolleys, and doorknobs

Why is it that kids want to lick everything they see or put random things in their mouths?

There are so many disgusting germs on supermarket trolley handles, yet that seems to be your little one's favourite teething toy.

The very thought of this makes us want to go sanitise our tongues right now.

3. Dig through their dirty diaper

3. Dig through their dirty diaper

Some babies and tots have this delightful habit of jamming their hands down their dirty diaper and rummaging around for lost gold.

What's even worse are the ones who manage to grab a fistful of their specimens and then fling it across the room or smear it on everything around them!

Why? Just, why??

4. Wiping a runny nose on your shirt

4. Wiping a runny nose on your shirt

How much did that designer jacket cost you? Who cares, it's going to be covered in green slime now.

Was that dress a special gift from your best friend when she travelled overseas? Nevermind, according to your lovely snotty child, it is equivalent to a piece of toilet paper now.

Let's just give up and wear potato sacks from now on.

5. Sharing lollipops

5. Sharing lollipops

Kids are taught to share, right? We're pretty sure this rule only applies to certain things like toys, books, and all that.

But children somehow love to share their lollipops with other kids, or they eat something halfway and then insist on feeding you the other soggy half.

Thanks, but no thanks!

6. Eating random bits of food from their stroller or carseat

6. Eating random bits of food from their stroller or carseat

As neat and clean as you think you are, there's bound to be a stray cereal puff somewhere or a few cookie crumbs here and there.

Your tot's fingers are small enough to poke around in the crevice of the carseat and dig out these rogue bits of food to snack on during the drive home.

Yet they can't find a toy even though it's right in front of their nose.

7. Scratch their butts and other bits

7. Scratch their butts and other bits

Picture this, you're at a family reunion dinner with all your extended relatives at a fancy restaurant and everyone's dressed to the nines, clinking glasses and catching up with one another.

You are proudly updating everyone about how junior now knows his alphabet and can count to 20, when everyone glances over at the child prodigy, only to catch him with his hands all the way down his pants and scratching vigorously, much to their horror (and your embarrassment!).

Someone please hand that child a wet wipe before the next course is served.

8. Let out monstrous burps

8. Let out monstrous burps

It is amazing how such a tiny body can hold so much gas and produce the most monstrous burps that can almost make the windows rattle.

Plus, children seem to have a knack for burping on cue at the most awkward times, like when you're standing silently in a lift and a stranger smiles at your little one, but is instead greeted with a deep, gutteral belch.

We must admit though, it takes a lot for us not to giggle uncontrollably when this happens.

9. Ask you to smell their finger

9. Ask you to smell their finger

Not only are kids always putting their hands into their own mouths, or touching everything in sight, or scratching all parts of their body, or digging their noses with gusto, for some reason they want to share the joy by asking you to take a whiff of their fingers.

No matter how much you love your child to the moon and back, there is no way you are going to inhale whatever odour there is lingering on those chubby little digits!

Yes, you can do anything for love, but you won't do that.

10. Insist that you look at their poop

10. Insist that you look at their poop

When your tot is going through potty training, she needs a lot of encouragement and praises as part of her learning process.

But a pat on the head and a few good words won't suffice, because your cherub will insist you take a good long look at the little log she produced and may even ask you to describe what you see in full detail before you're allowed to press the flush button.

You secretly vow to do the same to her years from now as payback.

11. Mix weird combinations of food together

11. Mix weird combinations of food together

Only children would think that a slice of ham would make a perfect addition to their strawberry jam sandwich, or that fries taste a lot better if they are soggy and floating in orange juice.

You're worried that these strange concoctions might give him a tummyache, but at the same time you're just glad he's eating something other than boogers for once.

Hmm, maybe the person who created chocolate-covered bacon actually stole the idea from their kid...

12. Drop really nasty stink-bombs

12. Drop really nasty stink-bombs

Not only are their farts as audible as a full-grown adult's, sometimes it really smells like a wet skunk who fell in a vat of blue cheese.

Then because the toots are so shockingly loud, when you're out in public and your little one lets one rip, everyone will automatically turn to stare at you in disgust because they couldn't imagine your tiny child to be the one with such a noisy bum.

You can never show your face in that shop ever again... Oh the shame!

Is your child guilty of these disgusting habits? What other gross things do your kids do that make you cringe? Tell us by leaving a comment below!
