Dr Cheryl Baumann, 39, founder and president of the Singapore Medical Group and Chief Executive Officer of The Lasik Surgery Clinic, has no problems juggling her new maternal role with her busy work schedule.
TheAsianparent.com speaks to her to find out how she stays on top, both at home and at work.
Many Hats
Dr Baumann finds a perfect balance between work and home. A mother to a 2-month-old baby boy, Dr Cheryl Baumann is constantly on her feet attending to patients and their questions regarding Lasik treatment at The Lasik Surgery Clinic located at Paragon Medical Centre.
While other clinics that offer lasik treatment, have at least 1 in 3000 who return with infection, her clinic boasts of an infection rate of just 1 in 10000!
Success at Work and Home
Besides having a supportive husband, Dr. Baumann believes that to be able to succeed in both the family world and the business world, a right balance must be found. Striking the right balance between private life and business life is important as living without either one provides a very one-sided existence.
Dr. Baumann also believes that in Singapore it is possible to combine both private life and the business life as compared to other countries. Even on maternity leave, Dr. Baumann was still very much involved with her work. She worked from home and did not feel that maternity leave should stand in her way of her business.
While Dr. Baumann is very much involved with her business, at the same time, she cherishes the quality time she spends with her baby boy.
She advices new mothers who are trying to find the balance between motherhood and career, “Every baby is a gift from God. The baby will bring you luck. Your job will bring you satisfaction. Both will keep you energetic and give you the strength to overcome any problems you may face”.
