"I don't think I married The One. How can I be sure?"

"I don't think I married The One. How can I be sure?"

Do you ever have doubts if you made the right decision by marrying your spouse? Here are some signs to help you know if you married The One

Some people believe that we can only get one great love in our lifetimes. While others believe there is more than one right person for everyone. Whether you belong to the former or the latter group, it’s fairly certain that, at some point, you wondered if the person you’ve chosen to spend the rest of your life with really is The One.

An interesting conversation has been brewing over on theAsianparent Community when one user posted a question about being uncertain if you married the right person.

One user proudly shared that she’s confident she married the right person. “Yes, I know he is the one. We knew each other since we were teenagers and people think its too young. But deep inside my heart I know it’s him,” she writes.

Adding that they were rational even when they were teenagers and even after 14 years together, he still does chivalrous, sweet gestures regularly.

Though a majority of responses were similar to hers. One user admitted she feels her marriage was “a great mistake”:

“People date to know each other better before deciding on settling down with ‘The One’. But after knowing my partner for 2 months, we got married due to having a kid (back then we were young and foolish). Right now, [our] relationship is constantly on the rocks.”

She recounts how their constant arguments have caused her to question whether or not she picked the right person to settle down with—even if they’ve been married for four years.

Find out some signs that you married The One

Simple, sweet gestures

Even after years together, The One will still do sweet, caring things—even if it’s as simple as cooking your favorite meal or giving you a foot rub after a long day at work.

They don’t try to change you

The right one accepts you, entirely. Sure, you may be messier and you’re not really a good cook but that’s just fine with them.

You can cry without being shy

Being able to freely show your emotions without the fear of being judged is a good sign that you’re with the right person.

You don’t have cause to complain

Whenever your friends rant about their significant others, you don’t really have anything to contribute to the conversation. It doesn’t meant your relationship is perfect, but there is nothing worth complaining about because you can freely tell one another what you need to work on.

You can travel without fighting constantly

They say that in order for you to get to know a person, you should travel with them. If your S.O. is the right one, then you don’t bicker constantly over tedious things. You trust them and are able to rely on them as you explore new territory.

They let you vent

The One won’t get annoyed when you express your frustrations. They’ll dismiss your apologies, too, and even encourage you to let it out. The only thing that will bother them is the fact that they want to fix whatever it is that’s upsetting you.

They care about your friends

The right one doesn’t limit you from cultivating meaningful relationships outside of your marriage. They genuinely ask how your friends are doing and they even suggest that you spend more time with them.

They love your family

The One doesn’t have to be best friends with your entire family but, at the very least, they’ve made an effort to reach out and form loving relationships with them—yes, even the annoying ones.

You say “I miss you” and mean it

“I miss you” isn’t just something you say; it’s genuine and true. Even if it’s been less than a day, you tend to miss your other half already.

They’re genuinely proud of you

The One won’t hinder your dreams. They believe in you and root for you, even if you don’t believe in yourself.

Though the aforementioned signs aren’t absolute and we’re certain there are more signs you married the right one, these signs will help reassure you that, though there will be doubts, you can be certain you have the right person by your side to conquer them all.
