Disney+ Shows to Keep the Family Entertained This Lunar New Year

Here’s a list of Disney+ shows to keep your kids glued to the screen while the adults do their thing on the eve of Lunar New Year.

Chinese New Year is all about gathering and catching up with the family – but sometimes the adults need some time to catch up amongst themselves, and the best way to keep the kids entertained is to put on some exciting shows for them to marvel at.

Here’s a list of Disney+ shows to keep your kids glued to the screen while the adults do their thing. But from reliving Star Wars memories to performing your own at-home karaoke with Encanto, we’re sure the adults will end up having a fun time too!

Fennec Shand in a scene from “STAR WARS: THE BAD BATCH”, exclusively on Disney+.

In season 1, we were introduced to The Bad Batch, a group of elite Clone troopers who defected from the Empire and set out to save their fellow clones from imminent destruction. While their mission was successful, the capital of Kamino, Tipoca City was sunk, and Crosshair parted ways with the group. But new missions, allies and enemies await them in season 2, and new adventures await young and old viewers!

Initially, this list is for keeping kids occupied. But we won’t blame you adults joining them to get your Star Wars fix too!

It’s a tale as old as time… or at least 30 years old! One of Disney’s favourite animated classics has just hit its 30th anniversary, and we’re celebrating with a special live-edition featuring gorgeous sets and costumes, and performances from incredible singers like Josh Groban as Beast and H.E.R as Belle.

Both young and old can enjoy this enchanting showcase, reliving memories and introducing a new generation to a timeless classic!

National Treasure: Edge of History

If you’re a fan of the National Treasure franchise, it’s time to introduce your kids to a whole new adventure in this spin-off series.

Jess Valenzuela’s life is turned upside down when an enigmatic stranger gives her a clue to a centuries-old treasure that might be connected to her long-dead father. But can Jess outsmart a black-market antiquities dealer in a race to find history’s greatest lost treasure and uncover the truth about her family’s past?

Nothing says prosperity like a quest for treasure, making this the perfect Lunar New Year watch!

After Mr Benedict and his kids’ successful mission to save the world in season 1, we join them again in season 2 for a new crucial mission: stopping Mr Benedict’s nefarious twin brother, Dr Curtain. When Mr Benedict and Number Two go missing in Europe, the kids must embark on an adventure navigating foreign countries and new foes to save them.

Will the kids succeed in stopping Mr Curtain or will the world be forever changed? Your kids will find out when they join The Mysterious Benedict Society in season 2, now streaming!

If you’re just like us, you haven’t been able to get Encanto’s songs out of your head since the movie premiered in 2021. Whether it’s because they’re such bops or because your kids keep singing the tunes around the house, why not kick-start a karaoke session at your open house with the Madrigal Family in this special concert spectacular that reunites the original voice cast?

Don’t talk, but sing about Bruno this Lunar New Year with Encanto at The Hollywood Bowl!

If those new additions are not enough, dive into the treasure trove of Disney+ shows and family movies that will surely keep the kids and the kids at heart entertained enough to make it to the eve of Lunar New Year. Happy watching!
