In the Western world it is commonplace for the elders, once they reach an age they can no longer care for themselves, to be sent to caring homes. Alternatively, relatives hire someone to take care of them.
To Asians this may seem harsh and even cruel, but this is simply how it is in the West. Unfortunately, because of their busy schedules, the relatives of these elders do not know what happens to them most of the time.
Thinking that her mother was getting the right care, Miriam Marino from Buenos Aires was stunned when she found out from a neighbour that her mother, who was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease may be suffering maltreatment from her caregiver.
Caregiver abuses mother
So she installed a CCTV at her mum’s apartment.

In the video the caregiver could be seen slumped next to the 94-year-old woman on the sofa. She could be seen shouting and kicking at the elderly woman.

And then, as she gets increasingly angry, the caregiver repeatedly hits Miriam’s mother around the head, pushing and shaking her and even grabbing her by her hair.

Miriam has already reported the incident to the police, but they were yet to issue a statement about it.
Meanwhile, Miriam has shared the horrifying video on social media in the hope that it raises awareness for people who are in the same situation.
It is tough to watch the video, knowing that the helpless woman could do nothing but sit there and endure the abuse.
If you find yourself in an arrangement not unlike Miriam’s and has employed a caregiver to look after a relative, one method of making sure everything is all right is by asking a neighbour or a trusted friend or better yet another relative to pay regular visits and conduct random inspections of the place. And as a precaution, you might as well install CCTVs all over the house. Not only will it ensure the safety of your loved one, it will also put your mind at ease.
