Couple married for 70 years still hold hands and end each day with a kiss

What's their secret to a happy, enduring marriage? It's simple, really...

A couple in California just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

After seven decades, Ed, 93, and Florence ‘Toots’ Shevick, 91, still hold hands and end each day with a sweet kiss.

“We don’t go to bed without kissing each other,” Ed told ABC7.

1940s Chicago served as the backdrop for their budding romance.

“At this point in my life, the most important thing I can do is try to make her healthy and happy, that’s what I got to do,” Ed said.

To this, Toots adds, “We look out for each other, and he’s the most important thing in my life, and I’m the most important in his life.”

What’s their time-tested secret to keeping the spark alive?

It’s simple, really: having a shared sense of humour.

“We laugh a lot,” Toots said.
