How well do you know your spouse?

All these women are convinced that they know their significant others well...but they don’t. Read of the tales of women who wake up in bed in the middle of the night...next to complete strangers!

There comes a time in every relationship when you begin to wonder who you are sharing your bed with exactly. And we wonder, how well do you know your partner?

Back in the day, maybe five, 10 years ago, you were able to recite everything and anything that is worth knowing about your significant other. You know all about the way he likes his coffee in the morning, his turbulent relationship with his adoptive parents, his little puppy that was sent off to a ‘farm’ when he was 9-years-old and everything else in between.

But now, a decade after proclaiming your undying love for each other, you look into his eyes and realize that maybe…maybe you do not know him all that well after all. We here are not all for fear mongering, but if you ever look into your significant other’s eyes and see a glimpse of a stranger with a secret life instead…four out of 10 times, you might be right.

She was shocked to find out he left her… for another man!

The one when he turns out to be gay…

34-year-old ad executive Serena Goh thought she had a good marriage and husband, and had always respected, her husband, Damien’s privacy.

Their courtship began after they met at a birthday party for a mutual friend. One year later, Damien proposed to Serena during a trip to Hong Kong. Another year later, they were happily married, and friends and family were sure their marriage would last.

Serena believed them.

As a sales manager, Damien often travelled for work with his colleague, Jeremy. They would usually hang out together doing “manly things” like chugging beer and watching soccer. Serena became suspicious when Damien started sleeping over at Jeremy’s place the night before a work trip and forbade her to pick him up at the airport.

Serena wanted to know why Damien spent so much time with Jeremy, but he told her to “get off his back”. When she enquired about Jeremy’s love life, Damien would flare up, asking if she read his text messages. But he would apologize later and claimed he loved her.

As a peace offering, Damien surprised Serena with tickets to Bali when things went really bad between them. But the trip was cancelled one week before they were to set off, when Damien claimed that he had to go on a work trip to Bangkok.

The next day after Damien flew off, Serena received a text message from a mutual friend that goes; “Hey, I saw Damien and Jeremy yesterday at the mall but I was in a rush and didn’t say hello to them.”

She rushed home to look through Damien’s laptop, and chanced on a folder where she discovered detailed and graphic e-mails between Jeremy and Damien about their illicit affair that dated back to six months. She confronted him about the emails as soon as he returned from his so-called ‘work trip’ and was met with feeble attempts of denial.

She left the house heartbroken and jaded, knowing that the man she loved has left her…for another man.

He had a secret family…

The one with a secret family…

An Ohio woman’s life came crumbling down back in 2010 when she discovered that her husband had a secret life…through Facebook.

The woman, who only wanted to be known as “Megan”, said she didn’t suspect her husband of another marriage until the evidence was on her computer screen. Her relatives pointed her to the other woman’s Facebook page where Megan discovered multiple photos of her husband and the woman together…in nuptial bliss.

A few weeks later, dozens of wedding photos also showed up on Facebook showing Megan’s husband and his new bride.

“It’s rubbing that salt into the wound of already finding out that my husband’s having an affair,” Megan said.

“The pictures are out there for the world to see. It’s not just that I have the knowledge, but I see the proof and everyone I know sees the proof and people I don’t know see the proof.”

Megan’s own wedding took place in Italy in 2005, and by 2008, the couple had two children and a home in a Cleveland suburb. As a businessman with his own plane, Megan’s husband travelled a lot around the US and across the world.

Megan said she first became suspicious when her husband claimed to have been in China and even brought back gifts for the kids yet his passport showed no sign that he had left the country. To eventually learn on Facebook that her husband not only had another lover but now a second wife was devastating, Megan said.

“If they’re going to have the affair, they’re going to have the affair,” she said.

“But it’s extra. It adds impact to the hurt, when they’re posting the things they post about the affair. Pictures of the vacations they’re taking with the other, the lover, the extra person. Facebook posts just cause a whole new hurt.”

She was horrified to find out her partner was actually a rapist

The one who turns out to be a convicted rapist…

A Singaporean woman has come forward to share her experience of having married a fugitive rapist.

The woman who only wanted to be known as Madam Zhang, 43, told Shin Min Daily News that met her Norwegian husband, ‘Michael’, 57, through a mutual friend about 11 years ago during a holiday in Italy. The two had maintained contact through the internet and met again in Dubai in 2004.

They dated for a year before getting married in Singapore in May 2005. Things were all fine and dandy till a year later in 2006, her husband was suddenly deported from Singapore and then extradited to Norway from Qatar shortly after that.

“I didn’t know what happened to him. He told me an ex-girlfriend had some financial troubles with her business, so he needed to return and help with investigations,” said Zhang.

Later, with the help from a lawyer, the lovelorn woman found out the truth about her husband.

“I discovered that Michael was wanted by the Interpol. He is a convicted rapist.”

According to the Norwegian media, Michael was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months jail for raping his ex-girlfriend. Oh, but it gets worse; he had also been arrested for being violent to nearly 10 women, which included threatening his ex-wife with a knife.

He became a fugitive when he disappeared before his case was brought on appeal in his native Norway. Unable to elude the far reaches of the law anymore, he eventually served his sentence.

A word of caution…

We’re not saying that just because you have become disconnected with your partner that, he would leave you for another woman or trade you in for a totally different gender or could be a fugitive on the run…

We’re not saying that at all.

But what we are saying is that…all the women in this story did go through life thinking that they know their partners well enough that things like these will never happen to them…but it did.

So what makes you think that it could never happen to you?
