Why is the Citi Cash Back Mastercard® the best in the market?

Why is the Citi Cash Back Mastercard® the best in the market?

Amidst extended lockdowns and movement restrictions, being able to dine out as a family (when we can) is probably one of the few luxuries we have. With my Citi Cash Back Card, I get 6% cash back on dining, which is one of the highest cash back rebates in the market. So, I can enjoy dining out with my family without worrying about the expenses!

With my Citi Cash Back Mastercard, I get maximum benefits on grocery shopping, dining, and more: You should too!

Did you know that nearly 1 in 3 young Singaporeans prefer cash back? According to a study, the top two areas where Singaporeans love using cash back cards are groceries and dining. I couldn’t agree more with this. I love cash back, especially when it comes to some of the most recurring expenses in my household.

As a mum, I find that most of my daily expenses include groceries, dining, and petrol to drive around for running errands. So, for me, a cash back card that focuses primarily on these three expenses is a total winner.

Why I prefer cash back over rewards or miles.

Given that Singapore is one of the costliest places to live, people here are always looking for ways to maximise their savings. However, studies suggest most people prefer cash back cards over miles or rewards point type credit cards. Well, I can’t speak for everyone but let me explain why cash back works best for me:

  • Ease of use: One of the key benefits of cash back card are their ease of use. Let me explain why: when you opt for a card that rewards you in points or miles, you need to redeem them in specific ways. You are also mostly required to go through the redemption process to claim your rewards and spend them; And, if you have a card with points that expire, things get even more complicated. With a cash back card, I don’t have to worry about anyof this.
  • Maximum value with my Citi Cash Back Mastercard: After trying multiple cash back cards and doing thorough research, the Citi Cash Back Mastercard is the most ideal option out there for me as I get maximum value out of it. The minimum spend has been lowered to $800 per month and I can get the highest cash back at $80 cap per month, especially on three key areas as explained at the beginning of this article – that for me are super relevant – groceries, dining, and petrol.

How I get maximum value with my Citi Cash Back Mastercard

Well, it is not just me–most consumers in Singapore and around the world value cash more than redeemable points or rewards. After all, cash is king! With most consumers who are inclined towards a cash back card, there is no dearth of choices in the market. And, with the wide number of options, it can get a bit overwhelming to decide what is best.

For that, I have a simple rule: consider two key things —

  1. Which categories to spend on to get the cash back
  2. How much cash back you can get

I get 8% cash back on groceries and petrol with up to 20.88% fuel savings at Esso and Shell. This is the highest cash back reward in the market. This is where the Citi Cash Back Mastercard checks both boxes and more!

  • With a Citi Cash Back Mastercard, I get 6% cash back on dining. Again, this is one of the highest cash back rewards in the market. So, the math is simple: highest equals best!
  • Additionally, my Citi Cash Back Mastercard gets me 0.25% cash back on other retail spending.

And last but equally important aspect for a busy mum like me – the process to unlock the cash back is quite simple and easy – as it is directly credited to the statement (for cash back above $50).

If you are looking for a cash back card that does not encourage unnecessary spending and allows you to reap benefits at lower minimum spends that you can easily achieve with your regular monthly expenses, the Citi Cash Back Mastercard is the one for you. If you need more reasons to choose the Citi Cash Back Mastercard for better benefits, here it is: you can get S$120 cash back* as you spend when you apply for a Citi Cash Back Mastercard.
