Mongolia’s Natural Beauty

As you step into the Chrysanthemum Charm exhibit, you are immediately greeted by a tapestry of colours and scents. The chrysanthemums, aptly named from the Greek “chrysos” for gold and “anthos” for flower, paint a vibrant picture against the backdrop of Mongolia’s natural beauty. Traditional Mongolian gers, the iconic Orkhon waterfall, and authentic cultural artifacts like Mongolian nobleman beds and deel costumes bring Mongolia’s essence to life.

Chrysanthemums: Nature’s Beauty in Bloom

Chrysanthemums, a part of the Asteraceae family, burst into full bloom between August and November. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, these flowers have practical uses, from soothing sore throats and headaches to aiding digestion. Their leaves and stems play a significant role in culinary creations in Chinese cuisine.

Orkhon Waterfall: A Natural Wonder

The Orkhon waterfall, known as Ulaan Tsutgalan in Mongolian, is located in the heart of the Orkhon Valley, central Mongolia. This valley holds historical significance as it has witnessed the evolution of nomadic cultures through the ages, from the rise of nomadic empires to the grand capital of the Mongol Empire under Chinggis Khaan.

Goat Cashmere: Sustainable Luxury

Mongolian goat cashmere is renowned for its remarkable quality due to its exceptionally thin hairs. The annual harvest of this sustainable and renewable resource is a testament to the country’s commitment to humane and ethical practices.

Mongolian Yurt (Ger): A Nomad’s Home

The Mongolian ger often called a yurt in English, is an iconic symbol of nomadic life. Designed for portability, these structures can be easily disassembled and transported, making them the perfect accommodation for a nomadic lifestyle.

Traditional Costumes (Deel): A Tapestry of History

Mongolian traditional costumes, known as deel, are a living tapestry of the nation’s history and cultural diversity. These attires carry the unique experiences and identities of Mongolia’s various ethnic groups.
