When Coldplay played in Singapore on January 31, it wasn’t just about the music. Lead singer Chris Martin gave a shoutout to a fan named Nuruljannah that made everyone cry. Now that’s a concert to remember!
The Resilient Spirit Behind the Coldplay Shoutout
Nuruljannah, a former paramedic trainee with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), had her life dramatically altered by a road accident in 2019. The incident left her requiring round-the-clock care at home.
Despite the challenges, she continued to find joy in little things, like watching her favourite band, Coldplay, perform through the television.
A Viral Video Leads to a Coldplay Shoutout
On January 28, a TikTok video posted by Nuruljannah’s family went viral. The video, capturing Nuruljannah watching footage of Coldplay’s concert on television, touched countless hearts and caught the attention of many, including Live Nation Singapore and KultureCity.
Not wanting Nuruljannah to feel left out as her siblings attended the concert, these organisations made a special arrangement for her.

Live Nation Singapore and KultureCity, a non-profit organisation focusing on sensory accessibility, enabled Nuruljannah to attend the January 31 concert with three caregivers. KultureCity even prepared a sensory bag set, including noise-reducing headphones and anti-sensory light glasses, to ensure her comfort.
The highlight of the night was the unexpected Coldplay shoutout to Nuruljannah. As her father recounts, “When Coldplay mentioned Nuruljannah, it was so unexpected. We were pleasantly surprised… We screamed to get his attention as we pointed to Nuruljannah on the wheelchair.”
The Coldplay shoutout served as a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusivity in all segments of society. Nuruljannah’s father expressed his hope that this incident would increase awareness about the need to normalise inclusivity by addressing their needs.
Whether it’s played in a packed stadium or through earphones in a quiet room, ‘Fix You’ continues to touch hearts.
