Social media has been flooded with an outpouring of tributes from fans and celebrities after boxing legend Muhammad Ali’s passing at the age of 74 after a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.
“The Greatest of All Time” passed away in a Phoenix, Arizona hospital. He is survived by his wife, Lonnie, and nine children: Laila, Rasheda, Hana Ali, Asaad, Maryum, Jamillah, Khaliah, Miya and Muhammad Ali Jr.
Though he was living with a chronic illness for three decades, the three-time world champion and Olympic Gold medalist has remained to be a lasting symbol of superhuman strength and courage, inspiring athletes and fans the world over.
He was also known for his philanthropic work for causes he’s passionate about such as civil rights, cross-cultural understanding, humanitarianism, hunger relief, interfaith relations, and the commonality of basic human values.
The world mourns the loss of one of its most extraordinary athletes whose impact goes beyond the realm of sports.
His daughter Hana Ali shared a touching tribute on Instagram, writing: “Our father was a “Humble Mountain!” And now he has gone home to God. Pray for the peace of his beautiful soul and for the happiness of his further journey. God bless you daddy. YOU ARE THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!”
