The upcoming parade is more than just a spectacle; it’s a heartfelt thank you to the athletes who represented Singapore at the Paris Olympics.

From 11:30 AM to 1 PM, the parade will traverse the heart of the city, starting from Bayfront Avenue and making its way through iconic locations like Chinatown, Orchard Road, Serangoon Road, and Victoria Street. This is a chance for families to come together and show their support for the athletes who have made the nation proud.

Why This Team Singapore Olympians Parade Matters to Families

As parents, we strive to instill values of perseverance and dedication in our children. The stories of our Team Singapore Olympians are perfect examples of these values in action.

Dr. Su Chun Wei, chief of the Singapore Sports Institute, highlighted the “gritty performances” and the “very high bar” the athletes had to meet to qualify for the Games.

“We hope that Singaporeans can come out and cheer on our Olympians as they travel on through an open-top bus through the heart of the city, and we can enjoy … and come together once again as a nation to celebrate these very amazing achievements by all our Olympians,”  he said.

These athletes are role models for our children, demonstrating that hard work and determination can lead to extraordinary achievements.

Highlighting the Achievements of Team Singapore Olympians

Among the athletes being celebrated is Max Maeder, who brought home an Olympic bronze medal in kitefoiling—the first Olympic medal for Singapore in eight years.

At just 17 years old, Maeder’s achievement is a testament to what young Singaporeans can accomplish with dedication and support.

Other notable athletes include the badminton mixed doubles pair Terry Hee and Jessica Tan, and swimmer Gan Ching Hwee, who set two new national records during her Games debut.

The Parade Route: Where to Catch the Action

For parents planning to attend the parade with their children, there will be five designated “cheer points” along the route. These are perfect spots to catch a glimpse of the athletes and join in the celebrations. The parade will pass through key areas, making it accessible for families across the city.

  1. Bayfront Avenue (In front of Marina Bay Sands), 11:45 AM
  2. Chinatown (Overhead bridge between Smith Street & People’s Park Complex), 12:00 PM
  3. Orchard Road (Junction of Orchard Road and Bideford Road), 12:20 PM
  4. Serangoon Road, 12:40 PM
  5. Victoria Street (Mural Wall near Camera Museum), 12:45 PM

It’s an opportunity to not only celebrate but also to teach children about national pride and the spirit of sportsmanship.
