One of the most beloved rom-com heroines in cinematic history is back!
Renee Zellweger will reprise her most memorable role to date but this time…with a bun in the oven.
Though it’s clear that tension’s will be brewing as a new love interest enters Bridget’s life, one thing’s uncertain: who the dad is.
It’s easy to assume that Mark Darcy (played by Colin Firth) is the dad, this time, he will be up against dreamy competition (Patrick Dempsey, whose character has yet to be named) to shake things up and fill the Hugh Grant-shaped void in the franchise’s latest installment.
In the recently released trailer, we see Bridget recovering from the end of her relationship with Mark Darcy (yes, after everything they’ve been through in the past two movies).
New photos have emerged while the stars were shooting the film. In some shots, it seems that Bridget has gone into labour and she is carried to the hospital by the two men in her life.

They began filming in October 2016 and the story takes place in between the book “Edge of Reason” and “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy”, further adding to the mystery of the babydaddy’s identity.

It may be hard to believe for many but Renee assured TODAY that even she isn’t privy to the dad’s identity, “I don’t know what they’re going to do.”
“They kept us guessing, yeah,” she said. “Because you never know people with cell phones and talking, and I might slip up and tell my mum, ‘Oh you know when she ends up with …'”

“Either way it doesn’t look like it’s going to be a terribly difficult ending for her is it?” she said, pertaining to the two dashing men vying for her heart.
The crew behind the film have put in extra effort to keep this plot twist a secret, filming three different endings, to keep even their lead actress in the dark.

Through all the obstacles, blunders and embarrassments, Bridget Jones remains endearing because she always finds a way to get through it, with a cooky smile on her face.
The much-awaited flick hits cinemas in September 2016.
