Asia's happiest country just got another reason to smile in 2016!

The king and queen of Bhutan, also sometimes fondly known as "William and Kate of the Himalayas", have recently announced they are going to be first-time parents...

Bhutan is Asia’s happiest country and the eighth happiest country in the world.

Now, in this country of happiness, a real life fairy tale story reached a new chapter as King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck announced that his wife, Queen Jetsun Pema, is pregnant with their first child.

According to The Straits Times, this wonderful news was announced during the king’s father’s 60th birthday celebrations.

The king said, “On this most auspicious of occasions, as we celebrate the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, I am deeply pleased to announce that Jetsun and I look forward to the birth of our son in the coming Losar.”

The news was also announced via Twitter by Kuensel, Bhutan’s national English newspaper:

“William and Kate of the Himalayas”

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck — who is also known as the Dragon King — married his girlfriend of three years Jetsun Pema in 2011.

The couple is sometimes called “William and Kate of the Himalayas”, and won the public’s affection when the king kissed his bride in public.

His displays of affection do not stop there.

King Jigme openly talks about his love for his beautiful wife, stating that, “She is a wonderful human being. Intelligent.”

The royal couple also hold hands in public, an unusual act in a country where open displays of affections are rarely seen.

Reports say the king and queen will become parents to a baby boy, whose due date is in February 2016.

Why not leave your own congratulatory message to this beautiful royal couple in a comment below?
