Summary:

Divided into three sections: The First Trimester, The Second Trimester and The Third Trimester, Humphreys mixes humour with his experience and takes readers on a ride from the day he discovers his wife is expecting their first child, to signing up for antenatal classes, or rather Parent Education Programmes to the day they leave the hospital, with Neil cradling his new pride and joy in his arms. Be My Baby is a good read on the train or while you’re getting your hair done.

What we liked best:

1) The journal-style the book is written in that gives the reader the feel that he is experiencing each confusion, fascination and discovery with Humphreys.

2) The good blend of humour with the actual happenings.

3) The cover art which assures you this will be a fun read!

What we didn’t like:

1) The soft cover of the book which can bend and get destroyed easily.

2) It would have been nice to have a few photographs of Humphreys with his wife and them attending the classes, strewn over the pages.

3) There is a lack of illustrations and whatever illustration there are within the book are non-coloured hence, giving the eye nothing much to really look at.

Our Verdict: We give it 4/5 stars. A good way to forget about the looming recession while you’re reading!
