Baby left for dead in dumpster 20 years ago reunites with rescuer

Baby left for dead in dumpster 20 years ago reunites with rescuer

After learning her tragic history, Morgan Hill sought out her "guardian angel" in order to thank him for rescuing her

In October of 1995, the media in Illinois (USA) covered the tragic tale of a baby who was left for dead in a dumpster. Thankfully, a construction worker discovered the unattended infant, and rescued her.

Fast forward to April 20th of 2016 when that very baby and that very construction worker would reunite for the first time in 2o years.

Morgan Hill, now 20 years old, had learned her tragic history from her adopted mother two years ago. Ever since, she was on a quest to find her “guardian angel”.

(Source: NBC WMAQ) Morgan, now 20, shares her story with the world.

Her guardian angel is named Gerald “Rocky” Hyatt and on that faithful day in 1995, he was working his job on a construction site in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. After a long day at work, he was finishing up his shift by completing his last task for the day. It was then he heard a noise coming from the dumpster.

Hill told NBC WMAQ the story as she knows it:

“He was dropping off the last load of trash from the construction area he was working on. Before he dropped it in, he heard a whimper. He found a white kitchen bag that was double knotted.”

After Hyatt made the startling discovery, he took the infant to the nearest hospital and given the name Mary Grace. From there, she was adopted by Sandi Hill, who took her in with loving arms and gave her her current legal name. Hill has always known she was adopted but never knew the full story behind her past. Once she was informed of the incident, she knew she had to find the man that saved her life.

Hill told NBC WMAQ, “If he wouldn’t have found me, I wouldn’t be here.” Simply put, she knew at the time she had to do everything in her power to find her guardian angel.

With the help of her local news affiliate, Hill found Hyatt. When they finally reunited, Hyatt brought with him two very special items. The first was a an angel pin that he received the day he saved her life. He gave it to her as memorabilia of that faithful day. The second thing he brought with him was a photo of him holding her at the hospital after saving her life. His words when they reunited for the first time in 20 years: “You are so loved.”

“I couldn’t thank him enough for finding me and giving me the chance to live a second life,” Hill said in her interview with NBC WMAQ.

No one deserves the cruel treatment that Morgan received all those years ago. Everyone has the right to life, and amazing stories like this go to show you that everything happens for a reason. Morgan was lucky to have a guardian angel looking out for her because now she can live the life that she deserves.
