Ayra the “Singnoy” Superwoman

2 min read
Ayra the “Singnoy” Superwoman

Ayra is our little Singapinoy superwoman, if not for her, we will not be able to buy our current house (four-room HDB flat consisting of three bedroom, one hallway) as I am a foreigner in Singapore (my husband is a Singaporean, I am from Philippines), my income is not counted when buying an HDB flat here and so we can only afford to buy a two-room flat (one bedroom, one hallway) using my husband’s CPF, which we find is a waste of his CPF money.

We were already planning to buy a resale flat, but we needed some cash out for that (which is a lot of money) so that was out of the option as we wanted to have our own private space as a newly wed couple (we were married in September 2019).

BTO flat (Built To Order flat) is also out of our options because it will take a lot of time to wait for it to be built. During that time, due to covid, they said we will have to wait for at least 8 years for flats to be finished due to lack of manpower, budget, and a lot of other factors that got affected by the pandemic.

Fast forward to 2021, Alhamdullilah when we knew that I was pregnant last September 2020, we tried to apply again for a balance flat (flats that were sold back to HDB by BTO buyers) and we got a very good queue number (they give queue numbers depending on a lot of factors, but they give priority to first time buyers, families, and other vulnerable groups in the society) This was all because now we are considered “family” consisting of two Singaporeans (Ayra and my husband).

And now September 2022 we have finally moved in to our nee home!

Thanks to our little Singnoy Superwoman!
