Activities and Objectives of the Army Open House

During the Army Open House, a variety of activities and demonstrations take place, offering visitors a glimpse into the training, equipment, and tactics employed by the Singapore Army. The primary objective of the event is to foster a better understanding of the Singapore Army’s mission, the challenges they face, and the dedication of its personnel. It also serves as a platform to promote national defense and instill a sense of pride and confidence in the capabilities of the Singapore Armed Forces.

Army Open House 2022 and Highlights

Army Open House 2022 (AOH22) took place from 28 May to 12 June 2022, with a specific focus on being kid-friendly. The event aimed to showcase the operational capabilities, platforms, and formations of the Singapore Army through interactive booths and immersive experiences.

AOH22 drew a significant number of visitors, with 140,000 attendees present at the physical event held at the F1 Pit Building, and an additional 200,000 participants joining virtually. The exhibition was spread across multiple weekends, featuring the main event at the F1 Pit Building from 28 to 30 May, followed by subsequent weeks at heartland locations in Punggol and Bishan.

In addition to showcasing the Singapore Army, AOH22 also commemorated 55 years of National Service (NS55) by highlighting key milestones in Singapore’s history related to National Service. Notable events included the first Officer Cadet Course for Full-time National Servicemen (NSF) held at the Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute (SAFTI) in 1968.

AOH22 featured various activities and interactive zones suitable for visitors of all ages. Some highlights of the event included the “Battle Rides” where attendees experienced rides on different Army Platforms, and the “Firefight” game testing marksmanship skills. And the “Experience the Night” exhibit simulates nighttime outfield missions using Night Vision Goggles.

By engaging visitors through these activities and exhibits, the Army Open House events aim to provide an immersive and educational experience that enhances public understanding and appreciation of the Singapore Army’s role, capabilities, and the importance of national defense.
