Who says you can’t do more when you have grandkids? Because this 48-year-old grandma surely can do a lot, like winning a crown!
Laura Lee represented Singapore at the Grandma Universe 2023 in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, and among 17 women, she was able to win the crown with her ageless beauty and wits.
She was the youngest contestant in the pageant with six grandchildren. At age 20, Lee had her first child; when she turned 37, she had her first grandkid.
Lee’s beauty pageants
The Grandma Universe 2023 ended on January 23 this year, which was Lee’s third beauty pageant and second pageant win.
At 44 years old, Lee joined her first beauty pageant, which was Mrs. Singapore, where she won as the first runner-up.
Driven by her recent success, Lee participated in the Mrs. Tourism Queen International Pageant in Thailand later that year.
A successful ‘grandma-preneur’
This mother of three and grandma of six is also a successful entrepreneur. She runs a logistics business and five frozen food companies.
“As a woman, we have to be very hardworking, and we have to be resilient. Additionally, no matter what we do, we have to be confident.
Finally, we need to be strong in our character so that we have a lot of people around us who trust in us. From there, we will become successful along the way.”, Lee said in an interview.
Reasons for joining the Grandma Universe 2023
Moreover, Lee shared that the main reason she joined the beauty pageant was to inspire her three children as well as her six grandchildren:
“[I wanted to] show them that, at any point of age, [you] can still do whatever things that [you] want to do.”
Lee receives love and support from her family about her career in beauty pageants.
To prove this, all of them went to Thailand in 2019 to watch Mrs. Tourism Queen International Pageant and how their grandma competed with other beauty queens.
