You don’t have to go far to find cool and exciting things to do with your family over the Christmas break. Science Centre Singapore has plenty of brilliant experiences in store for you! Not only are these activities tons of fun, they’re also plenty educational.
1. Team up with the Marvel Avengers
Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye are here in Singapore! At the MARVEL’S AVENGERS S.T.A.T.I.O.N Exhibition, you and your family will be recruited into the Avengers’ combat support network.
Parents will be pleased to know that there’s an educational element in this exhibition as well. Designed around the principles of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), kids will learn about the awesome connection between science and their favourite superheroes.
Find out how you can be a part of the Avengers here.
2. Travel to Arctic Circle to meet Santa and his friends
Experience a white Christmas (with actual snowfall!) at Snow City! Discover the Arctic Circle — home to the breath-taking Northern Lights and, of course, Santa’s headquarters: the Christmas Command Centre.
At Snow City, you and your kids can catch the elves hard at work, getting Santa’s Village ready for Christmas. Kids can even meet Santa and tell him their Christmas wishes! And on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, get into the holiday spirit by singing along to carols in the Snow Chamber!
Learn how you can experience real snow here.
3. Frolic with hundreds of butterflies
At the Butterflies Up-Close exhibition, watch eggs hatch into caterpillars then transform into colourful butterflies.
Singapore’s first indoor butterfly sanctuary is home to hundreds of butterflies across 16 species from around the region. This festive season, marvel at our newest stars of the show: the stunning Red Lacewing butterflies. Your family can come face-to-face with them until end January 2017.
Get ready to surround yourself with hundreds of live butterfly here.
4. Travel beyond the frontiers of Earth and space
Head to the Omni-Theatre this 21-25 December to discover the origins of the Star of Bethlehem. At the Secrets of the Christmas Star live planetarium show, learn about the different astronomical possibilities behind the Christmas star. Was it a comet? Or perhaps a supernova?
The other shows at the state-of-the-art planetarium system are equally fascinating. Follow young naturalist Charles Darwin on his adventures around the globe. Through his voyages, see the origins of his theory of evolution in the first ever 3D show at the Omni-Theatre, Natural Selection 3D. Meet the ancestors of modern-day birds at Dinosaurs at Dusk: The Origins of Flight. Finally, immerse yourself in the trailblazing work being done in laboratories around the world in Mysteries of the Unseen World.
