A Special SG60 Edition of National Day Activations

This August, the Bras Basah.Bugis (BBB) precinct will transform into a glowing celebration of Singapore’s 60th birthday as HeritageSG presents an expanded edition of the annual National Day Activations (NDAV).

Running from 1 August to 6 September 2025, this special SG60 edition goes beyond the usual illuminated landmarks, offering immersive light zones, digital installations, and storytelling experiences that connect Singapore’s past and present.

Theme: Celebrating Our Island

This year’s NDAV theme, Celebrating Our Island, pays tribute to Singapore’s heritage of food, flora, fauna, places, and culture. Aligning with the Singapore Night Festival 2025 theme Island Nights, the activations highlight the story of Sungei Beras Bassa — the historic river that once nourished the precinct’s nutmeg plantations and inspired its Malay name, meaning “wet rice,” from the tradition of drying rice along its banks.

Seven Light Activations to Explore

From historic landmarks to unexpected urban spaces, seven sites across the BBB precinct will be transformed into vibrant art and light installations:

  • National Museum of Singapore (1 – 9 August)

  • Reflection Pool @ Bras Basah MRT Station

  • Fortune Centre’s Digital Billboard

  • Stamford Walkway

  • St Joseph’s Church

  • Ten Square’s Digital Billboard

  • The Cathay

Visitors can expect dynamic lighting, projection mapping, and interactive elements that encourage exploration and community connection.

More Than Just Lights

Beyond the visual spectacle, the NDAV experience aims to spark curiosity about Singapore’s heritage. The light activations are designed to blend historical storytelling with modern creativity, offering fresh ways for families and visitors to learn about the precinct’s cultural significance.
