Woman gives birth mid-flight and names her baby 'Jet Star'

"The happy arrival of baby Jet Star was met with a round of applause from other passengers on the plane, so we're sure it's not a moment they’ll ever forget."

During a 3-hour flight from Singapore to Yangon, Burma, pregnant mummy, Mrs Star gave birth to Saw Jet Star with the help of doctors and the flight crew.

Fortunately for Mrs Star, there were three doctors on board who were prompt in helping the stewards guide her through labour and deliver her 2.9kg baby.

Jet Star was also named after Jetstar’s airline and customer service manager, Saw Ler Htu, who was specially helpful according to Mrs Star.

Both mother and son were immediately taken to the hospital upon their arrival at Yangon Airport.

Jetstar Asia has also offered baby supplies worth $1000 to Mrs Star as they were pleased and relieved the the positive publicity and safe outcome of the incident. The doctors who were there to help during the birth also received flight vouchers.

“The happy arrival of baby Jet Star was met with a round of applause from other passengers on the plane, so we’re sure it’s not a moment they’ll ever forget” mentioned a spokesperson for the airline.

She added that they were “proud of the way (the crew) assisted with the help of generous doctors on board to ensure the safe delivery of our youngest ever passenger on a flight.”

For those wondering, Jetstar actually allows women who are up to 40 weeks pregnant to travel with them on flights that are no longer than 4 hours. However, a medical certificate must be obtained if the mother is more than 28 weeks pregnant.
