What Men Really Want For Valentine's Day

11 Feb, 2016

Valentine's Day is a celebration of love, but it is often the guy who is expected to romance the woman. That's all well and good, but have you ever wondered what men want for Valentine's Day? We ask some of them, and here are their responses.

So love is in the air this weekend. Are you expecting something extra special? Have you ever wondered what your man would appreciate this Valentine's?

We asked men what they would like for Valentine's Day this year. Their responses run the gamut from ridiculous to surprising. Read on for some ideas or just a good laugh!

Me-Time

Me-Time

While some men wanted to spend time with their families, some of the men just wanted to spend it by themselves.

Fair enough, if us women need some me-time, why not our men?

So this Valentine's Day, consider giving your man some time to ommm if that's what he wants!

A really expensive car (and dessert in it)

A really expensive car (and dessert in it)

"I want a woman who can buy me a really expensive car for Valentine’s Day and then be the dessert on my sexy new leather after I take her out for a drive."

Not sure how seriously we were supposed to take this.

Sex any way I want it

Sex any way I want it

For some men, especially young unmarried ones, Valentine’s Day is as much about sex as it is about romance (or maybe more about sex!). High on their Valentine’s Day wishlist was the desire to have amazing sex, with whomever they wanted, in whatever way they wanted.

While sexual experimentation is usually better over and done with pre-marriage, even as a married couple, it is healthy to be open about sexual expectations too. Talk to your man about his sexual desires and if it is something you are comfortable with, within safe boundaries, go for it this Valentine’s!

Hair

Hair

This was a popular item on older men’s valentine’s day wishlist. We can see why.

Honestly, any woman who can give men hair would be very much in demand this Valentine’s Day (and any other day). Short of giving him some trichologist or wigmakers vouchers, we don’t quite see how this could work out.

For the woman to pay

For the woman to pay

Most women enjoy and even expect to be romanced on Valentine’s Day. That’s all well and good. But the prices of everything also go up exponentially because it is such a heavily commercialized occasion. While you shouldn’t be expected to pay for everything, it can be nice for your man if you offer to go dutch, or even grab the bill, especially if you know he’s going through a financially tough period.

"Besides, an independent woman is sexy." Says the 34 year old financial advisor we asked. And we agree!

No drama

No drama

This was from a guy who has been burnt a couple of times during the past Valentine’s Days.

"The expectations, you know, during Valentine’s Day, and I have had some pretty bad experiences when the girl just kind of threw a huffy fit because things were not done according to what she wanted."

So, ladies, let’s give our men some credit for effort this year okay? Most of the time, the onus is on the man to plan and romance, and we can see how it can be stressful. You don’t have to gush, but any appreciation would surely make your man’s valentine’s day great.

The perfect woman

The perfect woman

"All I want for Valentine’s Day is to find a woman who is gorgeous, kind, good in bed, has great chemistry with me and cooks great meals" says a 24 year old IT geek we quizzed. "Or failing that, just someone who is good in bed and gorgeous."

Sometimes, men’s expectations just need to be managed.

Silk PJs

Silk PJs

"Actually, I have always wanted silk pajamas, and I think Valentine’s Day is a really appropriate time to gift this. Men look so cool in it, like Japanese gangster, but I’m always a bit embarrassed to buy it myself."

Hmmm. Okay, better than having him lounge around in his ragged old South Park boxers. Weird, but okay.

Uninterrupted gaming time

Uninterrupted gaming time

This was a pretty popular one amongst all age groups!

Some also wanted their wives to serve them food and drinks on demand, and not have to be called upon for daddy duties at all. We are not revealing any names because we like to keep the crime rate low in Singapore.

Family bonding

Family bonding

This was top on the wishlist for men who travel a lot and have young children.

"If Valentine’s Day is about love, then I want to spend time with the people I love most, without having to answer calls or clock watch. It could be anything, doesn’t matter, as long as everyone is happy."

Aww.
