Really sad news. Tracy Lee’s husband, Ben Goi, also well-known as Popiah King Sam Goi’s son, has died of stroke. He was only 43.
The tragedy happened on 3 February 2019, when Ben Goi was in Kuala Lumpur visiting his in-laws. He suffered a stroke, which led to a brain haemorrhage.

According to news reports, Goi, Lee, their little son, and helper were staying at a hotel. Goi had complained of intense headache on the night of 2nd February. He was rushed to hospital by private ambulance, but sadly passed away at 4 am on Sunday.

Goi and Lee had earlier planned to return on Sunday night, in time to have reunion dinner with the entire family.
It is heartbreaking to know that this dad was really looking forward to celebrating his son’s first birthday on 9 February.
Goi and Tracy Lee had got married in 2017. Their son was born in 2018.
In a moving tribute on Instagram, Tracy Lee wrote,
“Hubby, I love you
Thank you for giving me this home
Thank you for doting so much on me and our little precious one
Let’s make a pact to reunite again in heaven, ok?”

Popiah King, Sam Goi, was no. 14 on Forbes Singapore’s 50 Richest 2018 list with an estimated net worth of US$1.8 billion.
Ben Goi was CEO at Tee Yih Jia, a global food manufacturing company. He was also managing director of Montigo Resorts, and held various other positions as well. Tracy Lee has acted in several Mediacorp productions before she chose to quit showbiz in 2015.
“I have lost my beloved son…”
Sam Goi is shattered by the loss of his son.
He has been quoted by Shin Min Daily News as saying, “I have lost my beloved son, nothing will ever heal this pain that I feel in my heart.”
Ben Goi will be cremated at Mandai Crematorium on Thursday, 7 February 2019. Many public figures like Heng Swee Keat, Josephine Teo, Teo Ser Luck, George Yeo, Zoe Tay, Terence Cao etc came down to pay their respects at his wake, at his home in Bukit Timah.
“It’s very sad for his family. He just got married and has a kid. It must be quite devastating for Sam and the family”, said Mr Heng Swee Keat.
