Thrill your child with a book about him... with personalised children's books

2 Dec, 2015

Personalised children's books tickle children's fancy, as they read their own names in stories.

Children love and are thrilled to see their names in books, that's why personalised children's books are always a hit as special gifts.

Renae Bunsters, the author of this gallery, is the founder of Once Upon My Time Books, the only personalised book starring a group of friends. Renae loves seeing little kids recognise themselves in their very own storybooks.

Check out the different kinds of personalised books that you can choose for your child in this gallery that Renae put together.

I See Me

I See Me

I See Me was the undisputed leader in illustrated children's book until Lost My Name burst onto the scene in 2013. I See Me's classic genre-defining book "My Very Own Name" spells out your child's name using animals.

Since being acquired by the McEvoy group in 2014, I See Me has released a steady stream of titles. 2015's "It's Fancy To Be Me" is a storybook targeted at girls under seven and is full of handbags, diamonds and six separate full page spreads with the lead character wearing high heels.

Lost My Name

Lost My Name

Lost My Name has introduced a touch of London class to personalised books. Their art driven books have been the people's choice in the past two years.

In 2015 Lost My Name released Home, a book which prints location specific information into storybooks, like flags, landmarks and aerial maps.

Frecklebox

Frecklebox

Tiny Me has cute, whimsical illustrations with an Australian twist, while My Given Name adapts I See Me's concept of spelling out the child's name with animals. Frecklebox has clever ways of spelling out your child's name (like by using autumn leaves).

Once Upon My Time

Once Upon My Time

Once Upon My Time's storybook lets you put up to six children's names in the one book. Cousins, friends, siblings and even adults can all feature in the book and each co-star gets their own copy.

What's also cool is that animals in the book are named after the co-stars ("Tyrannosaurus Jack" or "Charlottenose Dolphin" etc.) The book features a host of things kids love - sea animals, African Savannah animals, dinosaurs and a space ship.

(Full disclosure : We invented this book).

Put Me In The Story

Put Me In The Story

Put Me in The Story make personalised books based on some of your favourite characters. Imagine your child in the story alongside Peanuts, Sesame Street and Lemony Snicket.

Put Me In The Story's own titles are also pretty cool, such as Find Me If You Can in which your child's photo is printed amongst a sea of other children's faces... think Where's Waldo starring your child.

Winnie

Naturally Disney does their own brand names in personalised books. Frozen, Pixar, Princess Collection, and the rest... Your child stars in a familiar Disney story.

Note the lack of your child's name on the front cover is a hint of the mass-produced nature of Disney's 'personalised' books. They don't feature as much personalisation as other books.

Storybookshop

Storybookshop

In Story Book Shop's title "(Your child) and (your dog)'s Big Adventure", your child goes on a fun outing with a friendly dog, whose default name is Rufus if you don't select a name.

The child's name, appearance and the dog's name are fully customisable. And in what is a genuine innovation, the story line is also fully changeable. On their outing the dog introduces your child to three fun activities that you've chosen from the 12 pictured above.

Storybookshop combines all of the information given into a single one of a kind hard cover book.

Twigtales

Twigtales

Moving house? About to introduce a baby brother into the family? Want to help prepare a child for their first day in school?

Twigtales has a range of over forty personalised books to help kids and parents ease through childhood transitions.

Stepping Stories

Stepping Stories

Stepping Stories has quite specific books to cope with key moments in a child's life. Like the death of a pet: Ted still thinks about Fido. Ted remembers playing with Fido and sometimes feels very sad that Fido is gone.
