Pinkfong! Kids’ Songs and Stories, the people we can thank Baby Shark for, has launched a “fun” and new baby shark song that teaches children to wash their hands properly amid the coronavirus pandemic.
New baby shark song to sing along to
The new song, which has gone viral in a similar way to its big brother song before it, reminds children to cough into their elbow, use soap and rinse.
Yes, probably all of the things you’ve already told them, but it goes for longer than the World Health Organisation’s recommended time of 20 seconds, so the kids can sing along to it while scrubbing for a thorough clean.
The new song lyrics
The song is to the same tune as Baby Shark, just with Covid-19 revamped lyrics:
Wash your hands, doo doo doo doo doo. (repeat twice)
Wash your hands!
Grab some soap, doo doo doo doo doo. (repeat twice)
Grab some soap!
Rub your hands, doo doo doo doo doo. (repeat twice)
Rub your hands!
Rinse your hands, doo doo doo doo doo. (repeat twice)
Rinse your hands!
Dry your hands, doo doo doo doo doo. (repeat twice)
Dry your hands!
“What else can we do?”
Cover your sneeze, doo doo doo doo doo. (repeat twice)
Cover your sneeze!
Cough into your elbow, doo doo doo doo doo. (repeat twice)
Cough into your elbow!
Safe at last, doo doo doo doo doo. (repeat twice)
Safe at last!
Let’s stay healthy, doo doo doo doo doo. (repeat twice)
Let’s stay healthy!
Sure the kids will have germ free hands after it, but what about our own sanity while we are hearing this on repeat while in lockdown?
How to properly wash your hands
1. Wet hands with clean, running water (hot or cold), turn off the tap and apply soap.
2. Lather the soap thoroughly, including the nooks between your fingers, the backs of the hands and under your nails.
3. Scrub for at least 20 seconds. Don’t have a timer? Hum the ‘Happy Birthday’ song twice and you’re all set.
4. Rinse hands under clean, running water.
5. Dry hands with a clean towel or air-dry them.
