The new Nex shopping Centre
If you are as much of a mall-junkie as I am, you would already know that the talk of the town right now is nex – North East’s Biggest Mall. With more than 360 tenants and premium brand names, it would have taken us more than 2 days to amble through all the shops in this humongous building!
Since its launch 2 weeks ago, the mall has been visited by 70,000 customers daily. theAsianparent heads down to see what all the buzz is about!
What Can My Child Do At nex?
Touted as a ‘fun family hub”, nex has gone out of its way to ensure that the fun never stops for your children. One of the most exciting features for nex is the SkyGarden on the rooftop of the 6 storey structure.
SkyGarden is no ordinary rooftop playground. In addition to KidzPlay , a playground with wet and dry play equipment for your kids to splash about, it also boasts of Singapore’s first ever dog park to be integrated within a shopping mall – the K9 Park.
Here are more places your kids will definitely love:
- Serangoon Public Library- something for you to look forward to in March 2011! You and your kids can spend hours engrossed in the realm of books.
- Shaw Theatres nex – 10 theatres for your family to catch the latest movies.
- The Pet Safari – A large pet store where your child can ogle at cute puppies, cats and fish!
- Build a Bear Workshop – A one of a kind concept, this shop literally lets you build a bear! Your little one will have fun customising their huggable buddy.
- Virtualand – For your older kids, the arcade promises all sorts of games and activities to fill their time.
Does nex Meet My Family’s Needs?
Do you have a baby in the family? Well, nex has thoughtful implementations to ensure your visit to the mall, a positive and convenient one. For example, you will find Nursing Rooms at every level of the mall, and can even rent baby prams and wheel chairs at the mall. And if you need to make a beehive to a particular shop, the customer service counter can answer any of your enquiries.
How Do I Get To nex?
nex is incredibly accessible by car, bus or train. However, there have been many complaints about the parking system that has resulted in bottleneck jams outside the mall, even on weekdays! Luckily, nex is ideally situated just above the Serangoon MRT Station which is at the heart of the Northeast and Circle Line. For those who like to travel on the bus, the Serangoon bus interchange is currently being built and will be ready in the very near future.
See You There!
It wouldn’t be an understatement to say that nex has literally everything under one roof. The great thing about nex is that it doesn’t forget to include our favourite restaurants and shops. Keep a look out for the new and upcoming restaurants in Singapore too, such as Freshness Burger from Japan and Broaster Chicken from the US. It’s a one stop mall for anything you need- groceries, appliances, clothes, books, and most importantly… fun! It would take days for us to list down everything!
One mother shared with us that she had 3 hours of shopping at nex while her hubby took the kids to the movies, and then KidzPlay. In spite of that, she laments that it was not enough time for her to explore the entire mall.
