Study says spanking children can make them happy and successful

According to a study by the Telegraph, kids who were spanked up until the age of six grow up to be happier and more successful than those who were never spanked at all.

In most Asian countries, spanking is considered to be the best way to discipline children. Today, however, many frown on this practice as it is often linked to depression, alcohol abuse, anger control issues, and domestic violence in adulthood. Parents are often advised to discipline their children by just talking to them using loving and encouraging words.

But according to a recent study as reported by the Telegraph, kids who were spanked up until the age of six grow up to be happier and more successful than those who were never spanked at all. Also, they were more socially responsible and eager to pursue a university degree.

Critics of this study such as members of many children’s groups in the US have argued that spanking is not applicable in our modern world. They say that it can cause a lot of long-term behaviour and mental health problems in children. However, Marjorie Gunnoe, head of the group who conducted this study, said that spanking is indeed a dangerous tool. But she said that there are instances when the use of this dangerous tool is a necessity.

What this study is really saying is that parents should learn to discern what type of discipline is appropriate for their kids in various situations. If their kids need spanking, then they should give it to them. But this form of discipline should only be done out of love not anger.
