11 unusual celebrity baby names

3 Oct, 2015

The baby naming ritual is a very fun part of having a child no doubt—but sometimes parents may have a little too much fun in the process. Here are some examples of celebrity baby names you should not use on your newborn. But, who knows—one might just strike you as beautifully unique.

Who’s to judge anyway? But if you name your kid any of these silly names, they might be teased mercilessly for the rest of their lives.

Zuma Nesta Rock

Zuma Nesta Rock

Parent: Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale

This child sounds more like a food item than anything else. Zuma is also the name of a beach in Malibu and a computer game. We’re kind of ambivalent about this, it could be a super cool name but after a decade, it would just sound passé.

Josey Hollis Dorsey

Parent: Naya Rivera

'Josey' may be a girl's name in Hebrew but the Glee star named her baby boy that anyway. There's always a first time for everything.

Arlo Day Brody

Parents: Leighton Meester and Adam Brody

First time we heard it, we couldn't tell whether the kid's a boy or girl. 'Arlo' is traditionally a male name in the past, but that is all changing as of late.

Blue Ivy

Blue Ivy

Parents: Beyoncé and Jay-Z

Ivy Blue, Blue Ivy--whatever is decided of this kid's name, we still think it isn't classy. In fact, it sounds like a stripper name. No offence, but it has the connotations of a glam drag queen. Nice attempt, with aspirations to be an elegant name.

Jermajesty

Jermajesty

Parent: Jermaine Jackson

Really? How can the child learn about humility which such a name? It does put a smile on your face but it comes as no surprise—the family is a family of musical royalty.

Tu Morrow

Tu Morrow

Parent: Rob Morrow

Wow, can anyone be any wittier? *rolls eyes*. Oh yeah, in case you don’t know Rob Morrow, he is obviously no A-lister. The actor has a role in the TV show Numb3rs. Maybe you could catch the re-run on cable..err.. tomorrow?

Kal-El

Kal-El

Parent: Nicolas Cage

It’s so obvious that this kid belongs to a comic book buff. Nicholas Cage changed his own last name from Coppola to Cage – in honour to Luke Cage, a Marvel character. Well, it is also pretty obvious that Nicolas is a huge fan of Superman.

Pilot Inspektor

Pilot Inspektor

Parent: Jason Lee

Actor Jason Lee can be a very funny guy—just watch My Name is Earl. But really, you should not be joking around when you’re naming your kid. Be a funny guy any other time…

Kyd

Kyd

Parents: David Duchovny and Tea Leoni

We think this couple really ran out of ideas—or they really like baby goats, which are called kids. The creative spin on this would be the "y" in the middle.

Memphis Eve

Memphis Eve

Parent: Bono

If you’re trying to make sense of the name, then try again. Perhaps the lead singer of U2 experienced a really lovely evening in Memphis—or perhaps the child was conceived in Memphis, one fine evening. Keeps you wondering, doesn’t it?

North West

North West

Parents: Kanye West and Kim Kardashian

When news broke that the youngest member of the Kardashian klan had been named North West, the Twitter universe exploded with jokes about the punny name. Well, wouldn't it be ironical if she grows up to be a One Direction fan? *giggles*
