Shannen Doherty reveals devastating news that her cancer has spread

Shannen Doherty shared some heartbreaking updates about her battle with breast cancer

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Shannen Doherty revealed some devastating news: her breast cancer had spread.

The Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed alum discovered 16 months ago that she had cancer after discovering a lump in her breast.

“The unknown is always the scariest part”

“I had breast cancer that spread to the lymph nodes, and from one of my surgeries we discovered that some of the cancer cells might have actually gone out of the lymph nodes,” the 45-year-old actress said. “So for that reason, we are doing chemo, and then after chemo, I’ll do radiation.”

Doherty also opened up about getting a single mastectomy in May, but found out later that the cancer had spread from her breast.

“The unknown is always the scariest part,” she shares. “Is the chemo going to work? Is the radiation going to work? You know, am I going to have to go through this again, or am I going to get secondary cancer? Everything else is manageable. Pain is manageable, you know living without a breast is manageable, it’s the worry of your future and how your future is going to affect the people that you love.”

Doherty revealed that she doesn’t want to know what stage her cancer is in, and would rather just focus on fighting the disease.

“I want to believe that if I fight, I’m gonna be OK”

“My treatments are my treatments, there’s nothing I can do to change it,” she continued. “I’m still going to go through whatever my doctors tell me to go through because I trust them.”

After completing radiation and chemotherapy, Doherty will have reconstructive surgery.

“I want to believe that if I fight, I’m gonna be OK,” she said.
