SG60 List: How Singapore Supports Parents Through the Baby Bonus

SG60 List: How Singapore Supports Parents Through the Baby Bonus

Introduction: Building Generations, Together

As Singapore turns 60, our national narrative advances from infrastructure to intentional care: supporting families from Day One. In February 2025, the government enhanced the Baby Bonus Scheme, offering greater financial benefits, seamless access, and tailored support for large families. It’s part of SG60’s pledge: to grow not just the nation’s facilities, but the lives of every family within it.

Deeper Cash Support When It Matters Most

For babies born on or after 18 February 2025, the revamped scheme provides:

  • $11,000 Cash Gift for first and second children

  • $13,000 Cash Gift for third and subsequent children

  • Payments staggered over six-and-a-half years—from $3,000 at birth to $400 every six months—ensuring support continues through early childhood.

These enhancements address rising household costs, offering parents consistent aid during critical early years.

Boosted CDA Grants & Co‑savings for Long-Term Planning

Every eligible child receives a Child Development Account (CDA):

  • First Step Grant: $5,000 for the first two children; $10,000 for each third and subsequent child under the Large Families Scheme

  • Government co-matching: Dollar-for-dollar matching up to $4,000 (1st child), $7,000 (2nd), $9,000 or $15,000 for larger families.

  • CDA funds can pay for approved expenses at ECS-registered preschools, childcare clinics, pharmacies, kindergartens, and even assistive devices until the child turns 12.

This structure turns Baby Bonus into both immediate relief and sustained investment in a child’s development.

Enhanced Support for Large Families

Under the Large Families Scheme, families with three or more Singapore Citizen children born on or after 18 February 2025 receive additional benefits:

  • $5,000 MediSave Grant credited to the mother’s CPF for medical and delivery expenses

  • $1,000 Large Family LifeSG Credits annually per eligible child (aged 1–6), usable via LifeSG at verified PayNow UEN or NETS QR merchants—covering groceries, utilities, and transport

  • These add up to $16,000 in extra support per child for large families—on top of existing Baby Bonus and leave benefits.

Corporate partners also offer exclusive deals to support multi-child households as part of SG60’s inclusive vision.

Fuss-Free, Tech-First Access via LifeSG

Singapore keeps it simple:

  • Parents enrol for Baby Bonus when registering their newborn via the LifeSG app—triggering automatic setup of CSA (for cash gifts) and CDA within days

  • All funding and grants are organised digitally, reducing administrative barriers and ensuring parents can focus on family—rather than paperwork.

This reflect SG60’s push for seamless support systems that are functional and humane.

Integrated Family Support Against Rising Costs

The Baby Bonus enhancements dovetail with broader improvements:

  • Lowered subsidised pre-school fees (under $650 per day for working families)

  • Parental leave enhancements, tax rebates, and Cash+ Savings tools

Together, these form a holistic ecosystem—from birth registration to early education—with parents supported every step of the way
